ESSAY
The project management of the cross rail ways with known as the Elizabeth line rail
ways construction project. This project is constructed in the underground railways construction at
east and west London in united Kingdom. This report will base on the previous assessments that
elaborate the construction project of railways. This project is known as the Elizabeth lone
railways. His report will elaborate the detail narrative of what I think about the project and
consider that it will success or fail as well as highlight that what I learnt from the project. This
report will also recommend for the similar project.
I think that the project management is the organizational approach which are used for
manage the project (Stanitsas, Kirytopoulos and Leopoulos, 2021). The cross rail project will
provide the world-class facilities to customer at affordable price with the project excellence and
partnership. The cross railways plan is formulate for the safety, emergency and risk management.
It carries out the assessment programs with the performance profess within the Elizabeth line rail
ways construction. The previous assessment provide the background of project and associate the
risk management plan. I think that this project is the evaluation of management for provide
customer to world-class services that helps in project. I also realized that there are various risk
which face by this management project and it is not beneficial for project to become success in
the future. This project have ideas to run the 12 trains in very hours and wants to become the
fully functional from the central station. Many people are involved in these project to complete
and become successful project. The broad technology are also used in this project such as
enterprise resources planning system that consist the diverse tools which helps in handle the
project in better ways and also manage the accounting and human resources of this project. I
realized that this project is essential for governments of United Kingdom to make use of project
management practices and principles (Ahmed, 2019). In this project, there are the best practices
which are used in this project such as resources management, time management and
communication that are most essential for project to make them success.
The human resources management are also important component for the project because
without human capital this project is not utilized and run effectively. In this project there are
various stakeholders such as investors, customer. Project owners and participants in project as
well as this project is also managed by the 24 managers which are belongs to the different
management organizations. I also realized that there are the lack of management in this project

and lack of planning and poor management that affects the project and may be result in the
failure of project. Lack of management and planning are most important within project are most
important for project to become success and achieve the project objectives. Planning is the initial
stage of project and there is the lack of planning so, the project need to make planning for project
and then schedule to manage project in effective and efficient way.

I consider that it will failure because it is the risk management plan and this project
consist the various challenges and risk which can affect the construction project. The risk is
identified that there are budget estimate discrepancies between the project activation and
agreements and more funds are required for run project in smooth ways. I identified that there
are some delay in the progress of project from responsible authorities (Müller, Drouin and
Sankaran, 2019). I realized that in this project, there are some lack of equipments which are
required for the project progress so, the construction project may failure because of the lack of
equipments that are most important for business to run their project. The construction project
also face the lacking of governments initiatives that are also most essential for business to
progress report from governing body. If the Elizabeth lines opens without the lack of installation
of technologies for project and also deficiencies of funding budget can affect the business and
also business can may face loss (Sergeeva and Winch, 2021). Project of cross rail also face
improper testing of trail run and it delays in the progress of construction project.
Moreover, inventory analysis are most important for the project to run business that are
kept on hand for the requirement of business. It is most important that manages need to manage
the resources in appropriate ways but there are lack of the management so it considers that this
project may failure in the future. Risk monitoring within the organization are also important for
business because of cross rail risk management plan because it helps improperly implement the
plan but the project face the lack of coordination and management within the construction
company. Software and technologies helps in manage the entire progress of project and update
the final information regarding the project with the helps of MS project but the project also face
the technologies issues so, it is drawbacks of constructional company (Anderson, 2022).
Government also not willing to pay require funding to business and it creates the conflicts
between the governments company and construction company. The company also face unhealthy
competition between the two companies if software are created and two tenders for equipments.

The business also face the additional equipments challenges and company also face the
equipments challenges with more than one company because the one equipments company are
most important for emerge situation that can create in the project cross railways. It helps in
avoid the further future unforeseen events that can cause more delays in the existing project. The
cross rail face delay in its project and also time management issues which are most affects the
business.
The business need to adopt the solution of challengers and issues which may face by
cross rail project (Kerrigan, 2022). The construction company need to manage the human
resources management which are most important for project to run and accomplish this project
with effective and efficient ways. The business should train employees regarding their work and
compensate them according to their work so, it helps in manage the human resources of business
and also they coordinate with business in appropriate way.
For example: There are some factors which require rethinking Elizabeth lines for craft
the project management ideas such as efficiency, communication, visibility and collaborations
across teams and with the external and internal stakeholders for project management. The
communication can also help in improve the chance of its outcomes and also used in the
successful implication. The controlled and monitored also helps in determine the project
progress.
The construction company also need to use the technologies which are most important for
business to run them because it helps in changing the project management for better manner with
the project tracking system, collaboration tolls, workflow automation, scheduling software's.
Information gathering tools regarding the progress of cross-rail project. With technologies,
obstacles analysis for project management implement with the various actions to carry the risk
limitation and failures.
Company also need to focus on the time management to achieve the project within the
given period. It is the management progress, time spent on the project activities and tasks. Time
management are required with the planning, scheduling and controlling all the project activities.
In order to meet the project at time, every project activities. Business need to schedule at their
own tie and company also need to regular have time to work on the renovation (Chodorowski,
Ingram and Black, 2021). The company need to estimate that which task complete and how long
to take complete each activity. For the project, the management also need to identify which

materials, tools, systems. Budget and additional resources which are required to complete the
project task. Once management is related schedule than it needs to be controlled and monitored
on regular basis as well as compare the actual work against the project plan.
The company also need to deal with more than one equipment company because project
plan require the resources at any time and different resource so, become toe successful project
company require dealing with more than on equipment's company (Linde-Arias, Lemmon and
Ares, 2019). Cross rail project also face budget issues so, it is important to change in price and
also present to governments boy for initiatives. Business require to understand the individual cost

Authorities of cross rail project must be responsible regarding project to accomplish in
appropriate ways. The authorities are more responsible for project failure and success so, they
need to become more responsible regarding the project management in effective and efficient
ways.
Recommendation
From the report it has been learn that project management is an organizational approach
that is commonly used by companies in order to increase their overall growth. Along with this,
there is need to adopt and follow fundamental principles in order to make the project successful.
Throughout the case it has been identified that UK government has established massive project
London Cross rail in order to connect east and west London as well as their near suburbs. The
project started in year of 2009 and need to be completed by 2018 but due to many complications
it was not possible for government to complete on time. One of the key lesson leaner throughout
the case is there is need to proper management and principles as it will contribute in achieving
the objectives properly (Muruganandan and et.al., 2022). There is an effort required to
implement success UK government should have made use of PMI as it would have contributed
in managing time, communication and human resources. Another key lesson is human
resources is essential during the project implementation and there is need to manage key
stakeholders like internal and external so that it can contribute in success of project. However, in
case of Cross rail there was around 24 managers appointed for managing each functional unit
and to improve the capacity of project outcomes.

Some of the major aspect of project manager is to look after organizational planning, team
development in order to cover threats. In addition to this, it has been identified in the project that
there was poor communication between managers and employees such as fear of talking to
senior staff as they might lose the job. This has increased negative culture and most of the
workers has left the project in between and due to ineffective relation employees hesitated to
participate in the task. The leadership style used in Cross rail was boreoarctic and due to that
there was only follow of orders from higher outhits to lower so lack of information and freedom
to speech is one of the reason for decline in project (Denicol, Davies and Pryke, 2021). In
addition to this, the work of Cross rail was based on functional management style which has
divided areas of specialization like accounting, marketing and engineering. This effectiveness
has influenced the reporting relationship. Another key lesson is leadership is one of key sources
that helps in motivating people and execute the project roles so that task can be achieved in
better ways. Due to following poor leadership style there was breakdown in the interaction
among the project team members. In the case of Cross rail senior project manager has created
ineffective project culture and due to that team members were terrified to share safety incidents
and mistakes with the leaders. One of the key reason for failure of company was lack of effective
communication and it has created various challenges of London Cross Rail. It has been noted
that project team members were fainting difficulty in describing their problems due to fear of
being laid off (Cooper and Wright, 2022). In addition to this, key lesson learned that project need
to be free from threat as it affects project outcomes and adversely affects the likelihood of
attaining the desired level of project success. There is need to avoid communication gap and to
make the process smooth so that flow of information with the stakeholders were proper. It has
been analysed that project manager need to undertake communication planning properly at the
initial stage and review it on weekly basis in order to determine their efficacy. Although there is
need to implement sub teams that project manage can evaluate the needs of various departments.
Some of the recommendation Cross Rail risk management plan can be used in future
project in order to handle things properly. There is need of maintaining the project progress so
that issues can be identified easily. PMI can be used to delegate the task and design the
infrastructure or make use of the resources in effective manner so that main goal can be
achieved. In addition to this, if the task is not managing properly then activities cannot be handle
and the outcomes will be poor (Cocconcelli and Medda, 2021). It has been found that Cross Rail

is making use of functional organizational structure instead of that it can make use of projective
organizational structure as adopting two methods will change the project into matrix
organizational structure. Although company has to make use of good leadership style in order to
attain proper outcomes of the project. Leadership is essential in the project management as it
influence teams to execute their role and bring positive results. It is to be recommended that
Cross Rail need to make use of democratic leadership style in order to maintain positive culture
and to maintain healthy relation with employees. It can be stated that with help of democratic
style employees will be having opportunity to share their opinion and contribute in finding
innovative ideas. In addition to this, it will also help in marinating smooth flow of information
within each functional unit that will result in success of project.
It is to be suggested that Cross Rail should hire technical experts and make use of advance
technology in order to execute and implement equipment. There is need of collaboration with the
project manager and Engineering Design Boar which will contribute in making necessary
changes. One of the major delay of project was poor time management which as limited the
attainment of set objectives (Chodorowski, Ingram and Black, 2021). There was also strain
between owner and contractor of project that has delayed in success. Thus, in order to deal with
it future there is need of effective time management plan and each activity need to be time
schedule. First project activity need to identified then it should be sub divided into smaller task
in order to achieve it properly. Although it is to be suggested to develop or make use of work
bred own structure that will define project activities which need to be undertaken. This will play
important role in success of the project.
As the conclusion, this essay discussed the cross-rail ways project narrative and also
elaborated than the project will failure if it will not manage risk of projects such as budget
management risk, time management risk, human resources management and technologies
(Rahimzadeh, 2018). So, there are some guidance to projects manager to manage the risk of
projects to accomplish the activities and task of projects. This report also recommended the
strategies to manage the similar project.
