1.1 Introduction
This is a project based on designing the user experience and here we are trying to
develop a jump and run game. A jump and run game is an extremely simple game
where the character automatically is running endlessly and encounters obstacles in
between which he needs to avoid. The player is in charge for the control of this game
character and makes the character jump or crouch to avoid these obstacles. Avoiding
each obstacle gives them a plus point. The game ends as soon as the player hits any
obstacle. With this project we will be building a game of similar kind. The game will be
developed with Google web designer.
1.2 Background
The game is set on an island where the main character is running to save the love of his
life. The theme for the game is inspired from an old popular videogame called the
“Adventure island”. The character is inspired from the anime series.
The character will encounter objects found on island as obstacles which he will need to
avoid in order to score maximum points. The market for this type of games is not very
much strong but the game has some unique selling points which will give it an edge
over other games of similar kind.

CSC10214 Assignment 2
1.3 Description
The project being developed here is a jump n run game where the character will be
controlled by you. This is the story of a character who has come to an island torescue
the love of his life. You will face obstacles which you need to avoid by jumping. You will
press the jump button on the screen to do that. Each time you avoid an obstacle you
will be awarded a point. Your objective is to score the maximum points in this game.
This is an endless running game and you will face obstacles of different kinds, its not
like you will always need to jump in order to avoid those obstacles. Some of them will
be high off the ground as well and in such cases you would have to try not to jump. As
soon as you collide with an obstacle, the game will end and will show the points you
scored. You can restart the game if you wish to or end the game then.
The game is built on simplistic graphics and 8-bit images have been used to give it a
classic videogame feel. The sounds used in the game give the experience of
conventional 2d videogames. The character for the game is inspired by anime series.
1.4 Key Features
In the age of modern games, this game will give the player a feel of
conventional videogame as the characters and the objects used in the game are
8-bit types. Users will like this style as it will bring their childhood memories
related to videogames back.
The sounds of the game will compliment the old 8-bit style of the game and will
enhance the overall perception of the game.
The challenge which this game provides sets this one apart from the others in
this market.
1.5 Genre
This is a casual adventure game where the player needs to jump to avoid obstacles.
Fantasy characters and story has been built for the game which hence puts it into the
fantasy-adventure category.
TargetAgeGroup
This game is suitable for children of eight years and onwards.

1.6 Concept Map
This game will be built on google web designer and will require the use of advanced
tools. The use of these tools would help to make the UX-UI skills of the developer
strong. Developing an endless running game will require a number of resources and we
will learn how to use them together.
With this project, we are trying to develop a game suitable to the children of ages 8 and
onwards. This game does not show any violence or any explicit content and hence suits
the best to this age category. We are trying to create an experience which will
rejuvenate the memories of the childhood of the player and this is the reason why
classis 8-bit resources and sounds have been used with the game. User interface is kept
to simple so that everyone can play the game easily.
1.7 Platform
This is a web-based project and can run on any platform. There is only a need for a web
browser which will provide the user access to the game. The game is however being
designed with google web developer on a windows machine. The completed product
can be deployed to a website as a web application & it will be ready to be played right
then.
1.8 Concept Art
As discussed earlier in this report, the idea is to give the
player a conventional game look and feel for which
classic videogame style resources have been selected.

selected with the similar mindset. The game is set to be on an island and all the objects
will be matching the selected theme. The obstacles would be island monsters other
island related stuff.
An old videogame has inspired me to take up this theme for my own game.
The below screenshot might be helpful in giving the idea about the game.
1.9 Market Analysis
There is not a very strong market for this game as many games of similar kind already
exist and people have played such games over and over. However, online gaming
websites might be interested to invest in this product because of the strong character
story and unique-ness of the game. Children of ages eight and then onwards might be
delighted to play this game and even teenagers may find themselves busy with this
game although they are not the primary target audience for this product.
Similar games exist on websites which provide games to be played online and there is a
strong competition among them. However, this game has some unique features which
might give it an edge over the others and make it more popular.
