The term corporate social responsibility describes effort of the organizations towards
improving the economic, environmental and social status (Huang et al.). By developing the CSR
policies all over development can be introduced in the ethical manner. The purpose of this study
to critically analyze the situation of Patagonia in the current competitive market and identify the
initiatives, which has made the company unique from the traditional organizations. At the end of
this study, sustainable ideas have been introduced, which can help Jos. A. Bank Clothiers Inc to
implement the CSR audit in the right manner.
Discussion
Patagonia has gained its market position by introducing the unique operation as well as
marketing strategies in the market. By introducing the sustainable outdoor appeal and high
quality of products, not only the company has lead the environmental movements but also the
company has brought the regenerative agricultural practices in the country (Huang et al.).
Developing the unique culture as well as leadership practices in the workplace, Patagonia has
started enjoying the continuous growth in the current competitive business environment
(Patagonia.com). Analyzing the long term vision of this company, it has been identified that it
not only inspires the changes, but also instigating the changes sustainability initiatives are being
implemented in the company.
The decision making process in Patagonia has made it unique from the traditional
organizational practices (El-Kassar et al.). Involvement of individuals in the micro decision
making process, helps to organization to perform its job within a particular time frame. By
introducing lots of flexibility in scheduling, the working culture ion Patagonia has increased the

employee engagement. During the two months of environmental internship course, the annual
performance rating helps to increase employee engagement. In order to reduce the environmental
impact, impressive actions have been adopted by the company. From the last 40 years, the
company is supporting the grassroots activists, who have been working for finding the solution
for environmental crisis. Patagonia has also pledged 1to 10% of pre-tax profits, which can be
considered a one of the strategic steps for maintaining the biodiversity and wildness
(Patagonia.com). In order to deal with the environmental crisis, the company has also contributed
in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by avoiding the dirty technologies.
Analyzing different CSR initiatives adopted by different organization, it can be said that
in case of implementing the positive CSR audit in Jos. A. Bank Clothiers Inc, the strong message
needs to be developed by the company without striking to the goal. Using the message called
“Eat organic, live healthy, involvement of customers can be increased. Through different social
media platforms and third party partnership programs, awareness among the people can be
increased, which can help to develop an effective CSR report (Tata, Jasmine and Sameer
Prasad). By evaluating the measurable goals, it can be easier for the organization to meet its
business goals.

In the conclusion, it can be said that by supporting the environmental activists and
effective decision making process, Patagonia has developed its unique position in the market. In
case of sustaining in the competitive business environment, Jos. A. Bank Clothiers Inc needs to
focus on introducing effective CSR strategies for grabbing the large numbers of customers’
