1CULTURAL ASSIMILATION OF MINORITY GROUPS
The United States of America is known as the ‘melting pot’ of the world (Abramitzky,
Boustan & Eriksson, 2016). Such a terminology is associated with it because of the fact that this
country hosts many people belonging to different cultures of the world.
The percentage of the native people of America who make up the country is extremely
less. Instead, the population of other cultures such as that of the African-Americans have
increased considerable over the recent times. This is due to the fact that when the New World
was discovered in the seventeenth century, it provided the aspiration of dreams of many people
around the world (Angelini, Casi & Corazzini, 2015). As a result, the Founding Fathers of the
American Constitution laid down certain policies for protecting the different cultures of the
country. They laid emphasis on the concept of right to equality which seeks to protect the
different cultural background of the citizens without any discrimination. This becomes important
in the context of minority groups such as the Jews since they cannot form an effective lobby.
In conclusion it is observed that minority groups around the world need protection
because of the fact that they do not have enough number of people to fight for them.
