Introduction
This journal entry reflect about the information essential to hold by any person as cultural
competence before entering into any discussion about culture, belief and practice’s along
with the historical development of any particular community.
Aim
This journal entry focuses on the understanding and cultural competence I have about the first
people of the Australia majorly known as the Indigenous and Torres Islander people of the
country. These people of the indigenous community are a point of attraction for many
scientists, scholars, artisans, and musicians. I am always eager to learn the new things,
culture, communities, and their traditions, hence I have some knowledge about the history of
indigenous community in Australia, their issues at the time of Britain civilisation and
importance of their culture and language, they are very rich in languages (Davy, Harfield,
McArthur, Munn, & Brown, 2016).
Discussion
According to Ranzjin, McConnochie, and Nolan cultural competency is more than knowing
the community but it includes the detailed history of the community, their practices, religious
beliefs, and development from time to time. As much, I understand about the indigenous
community and its cultural competency it puts me on the edges of the learning about them
because they are more than what I know (Brennan, 2017). They have languages, singing
tradition, culture, and dance. Beliefs like Uluru Mountain and their struggle to save their
tradition from being lost.
I used to collect news about the struggle of indigenous community and every time I read is
about the challenges they used to face is related to their health, education, and over-

representation in the criminal activities (Ranzjin, McConnochie, & Nolan, 2009). These
collected pieces of the news have given me idea about the struggles this community is
regularly facing to manage their place in the society and the discrimination they face in the
area of education and employment (Ranzjin, McConnochie, & Nolan, 2009).
This community holds a valuable tradition, beliefs, and language my cultural competency
about these aspects is not deep but it includes the stages of the challenges this community
faced for the development with the innovation and changes in the status. Understanding about
the history, traditions, and beliefs any particular community a never ending process it has no
final destination, lack of awareness about the features of cultural competency and its
importance can affect the process of the investigation and journal entry.
Conclusion
Effective skills of deep analysis and understanding are essential for the identification of the
cultural competency and its importance for the particular community (Lowe & Yunkaporta,
2018). Developing own values and understanding about self-development and learning skills
is require to map and measure the cultural competency. Developing cultural capability in
relative to Native Australians in a detailed and complete style includes developing more or
less in the subsequent arrangement from basic information through to professionally detailed
expertise:
Procurement of a general indulgent of the nature and importance of culture, gaining a general
indulgent of indigenous cultures, accounts, existing societies and concerns discovering single
and social standards and insolences, Judgementally investigating the nature of one's
occupation or career, Increasing broad skills for working in Native environments, and
Developing skilfully particular skills for working in Indigenous contexts.
