INTRODUCTION
Criminology is the study of crime and behavior of an individual within society. Also it
covers various kinds of aspects that is related to crime and laws related to it. Criminology
majorly explains about theories and punishment. It deals with that kind of laws which has been
dealing with crime and motive behind it. Criminology also deals with psychological, behavioral
and cultural aspect of persons which makes him committed crime or a criminal offence. Scope of
criminology is wider in a sense that various aspects of society is being covered under it regarding
crime. Nature is dynamic because it covers various laws regarding it also and has been
explaining theories regarding punishment in a crime. This presentation is based on cultural
criminology and its benefits.

What Cultural Criminology
Cultural criminology is that kind of subfield which involves study of crime that has to be
focused through ways under which dynamic meaning is that to underpin every process that leads
towards criminal justice. Under this crime and definition of crime is also included within it. In
other cultural criminology has to seek through within the context of culture aspects related to it is
known as crime through context of cultural criminology which makes understanding of crime
and its relation to culture(Prieur, 2018). In this kind of criminology various aspects related over
crime and culture is being covered under it. Such kind of criminology also deals with religion,
various kinds of practices followed within a particular community. Also various theories are
there that has been having influence over change in mental state of person. In this broad range of
perspective related sensitivity of society is being covered. Evaluating over both cultural and
criminal process is being covered.
As criminology also deals with crime and laws related to it. Cultural criminology and
theories related to it explains more of those aspects which makes it clear over motivation which
an individual gets to commit a crime from cultural of society and community he lives in. The
theory gives motives to a crime, whereas other theories, such as rational choice theory, explain
what was gained. In such criminology there main focus is over dealing with certain elements of

crime and study of it. Other words culture criminology is mainly centered over how culture is
being impacting practices mix of those crime and its relation with society existing in modern
times. Majorly it has been focusing upon symbolism and power relations in explaining the causes
and effects of crime and deviance (Brisman, 2017).

Cultural criminology has to face challenges that has been occurred in theory and method.
Through cultural criminology challenge that has been occurred during the time of solving the
problem related to crime. It helps in making administration of justice possible in positive and
effective manner. These theories are also helpful in enhancing system of justice and makes
system of justice more enhanced with strengthening of laws. Also this makes statistical analysis
of justice and laws is done which makes applicability of law possible in appropriate manner.
Rational choice theory and similar criminological theories founded on assumptions of
instrumental rationality miss, from the view of cultural criminology. There are certain elements
defined under the theory which is pleasure, excitement, anger and risk. Various criticism that has
been faced by cultural criminology ( Brisman and South, 2016).
As a criminologist analysis it is helpful in developing of society with better
understanding over the cultural and other cause that lead to crime, protection against crime,
improvement of rehabilitation under which releasing an criminal is also covered with crimes.
Some criminologists teach or work in all of these areas. Others pick an area of emphasis and
focus on studies in that area. Social Justice is being improved and policies related to it are
formed in better manner with career filed of social justice. Research is being included or done
with the demographic, ethnicity, education and socioeconomic status over various crime is being
covered. This also makes various kinds of condition and problems to be analyzed with studied in
one angle. Also another assess helps in covering of those traits like race or socioeconomic status
that has been impacting enforcement of law through investigation and observing factors with
monitoring of law. This also covers behavioral part of law also. The end game from a social
justice perspective is to create a fairer system that evaluates everyone equally with respect to
the legal system.
