CULTURAL EXCHANGE
Like every other country, the United States of America also utilizes cultural exchange to
increase mutual understanding and facilitate cultural diplomacy with other nations. As the home
to several ethnicities and communities, America is a huge melting pot if different cultures. Some
researchers say that this amalgamation of different cultures is an integral part of the nation-
building for America. This integration provides America an economic advantage in the global
economy, expanding skillsets, experiences, knowledge and new market opportunity. Besides,
they fill the gaps in the labor market that the American workers fail to meet. Other than the US
economy, the immigrants also have a remarkable impact on the scientific rigor, entertainment,
art, athletics, culinary skill, as well as social and political discourses. Moreover, the resilience
and determination of the immigrant communities to survive in a new environment have deeply
influenced the American values, making a stronger nation (Waters and Pineau 2016).
As a global power in the contemporary times, the American culture also has significant
influence on other nations. Moreover, with the advent of globalization, it has been often claimed
that the entire world is subsumed in the American culture. In this regard, consumerism and
capitalism have been the major traits that have been imported from America to other nations.
Above all, democracy, diversity, inclusion, individualism and liberty are also some significant
value of the American society that has been adopted by the world today. Apart from that, the
popular culture of America has become the global language of entertainment, with Hollywood
and American media ruling the world (Campbell and Alasdair 2016). Thus, cultural exchange
has enabled America to reach out to the world.
