INTRODUCTION
At present times, Tourism business is one of the fastest growing sector which contributes
more in the development of economy as well. Increase in the income level of people allows them
to visit at different destinations. Nowadays the visitors visit at various destinations with different
purposes. For example, some visit with the purpose of spending leisure time with their families
whereas some visit to collect information and getting knowledge about the events occurred in the
past. Tourism business provides an opportunities to different countries in order to earn foreign
exchange which is the main reason of attracting firms to operate their business at such areas. The
present assignment report covers the development and growth of cultural and heritage industry
over a period of time (Alberti and Giusti, 2012). The project also covers the type of visitors and
firms which affects the activities of tourism business. There are various methods and techniques
which is used to interpret tourist is also discussed under this report.

Lhasa is known for the second highest populated city covered in 3450 metres which makes the
city more competitive tourist destination place. This place is also known for religious capital
from the 17th century. This city has attained many attractions such as Potala Palace and
Norulingka Palaces. The potential conflicts are occurred in terms of conservation of heritage
and cultural resources. There are large number of people who makes negatively impact the
infrastructure development of culture and heritage of that area. Apart from this, it has also make
positive impact in form of revenues generated due to having large number of travellers. This

will contributed maximum to the income of city which indirectly increase the standard of living
of local people. The government of city are also required to use balance approach which
increase the revenues and attracts lots of customers.
In order to find an optimum solution to resolve issues, it is important to first identify the main
stakeholders such as investors, government, communities, travel agencies, global community
etc. which is mentioned in given case study. As there are large number of projects implemented
by big investors which affects cultural and heritage values in negative manner. For example,
Resort Lhasa paradise are manufactured by Hotel group and they always tries to renovate the
Barkhor town and building the theme work which becomes threat to cultural and heritage
values. Therefore, to stop all such activities NGO raised their voice and feels that its hurts their
religious sentiments.
Further, there are various points which are raised by NGO against the project of Tibet. The first
reason is that The resort in Paradise and IHG hotels are note following government rules and
regulations.
Therefore, it is important to maintain balance all the commercialisation activities of heritage
and cultural in the Barkhor District. The government also required to give their efforts in
restoring religious structure which increases in the number of visitors. For this, an effective plan
and strategies should be made in order to project religious sentiments of very people. NGO of
London also required to make efforts in satisfying the need of stakeholders as well as
customers.

2.1: Purpose of heritage and cultural attractions in meeting the needs and demand of different
customers
There are large number of visitors visited at different destination with their own purposes. For
example, some visits visit to spend leisure time with their families and relatives whereas some
visitors visits with a motive of collecting information about the historical sites and monuments
(Ashworth and Larkham, 2013). It can be further understood through following points:
Entertainment: There are huge amount of customers who visits at different attractive
destination in order to spend some quality time with their families, friends etc. Due to having

huge workload, an individual want to take break and go for such destinations to get relief in their
life. For this, various programmes has been designed by British Museums which makes place
more attractive.
Historical importance: There are different historical events and monuments which
provides knowledge about the events occurred in past. Some visitors shows their interest in
getting information about the history and noted in their mind so as to tell others who cannot
afford to visit at such historic places (Ashworth and Page, 2011).
Educational value: There are number of historical monuments and buildings which grabs
an attention of lots of customers to visit at such place at once in their lives. Mostly the students
of schools and colleges preferred to visit at such places in order to get knowledge and uses them
in their further project. Victoria also executed different educational programmes for students.
Research: Most of the customers visits at destination with the purpose of conducting
research on various sites such as Science Museum in which lie detector, robots, laser harp etc.
are the main attractions. The people who has interest in science and technology are more likely
to visit at such places for the purpose of doing research and make experiments.

4.1: Evaluation of various methods and media used for doing in heritage and cultural
interpretation industry for tourists
There are large number of options available which must acquired by an enterprise in
order to interpret the whole experience gained by visitors at the time of visiting various
destinations. Such methods includes exhibition, events, guide etc. which helps in knowing the
experience of customers through which they can able to interpret the perception of tourists about
various destination places (Chiabai, Paskaleva and Lombardi, 2013),

A process which involves three steps such as understanding, appreciation and protection
which help firms in doing interpretations regarding the satisfaction level of visitors. This will
also help in identifying the loopholes which exist in current system and thus able to modify or
remove them.
The management is wholly accountable to collect statistical data and on the basis of
information available, they need to find out the effectiveness of business activities which need to
be improved if any deviations found. For example, British Museum uses different methods of
interpretation such as using audio guides, graphic, pictures etc. which help visitors to get
information and knowledge about the British Museum. Using social media also help in
transmitting information about particular heritage and cultural sites with a motive of attracting
large number of visitors (Cuccia and Rizzo, 2011). Various campaigns, interactive videos are
also may used by the firms which make positive impact on the decision-making behaviour of
customers. Albert and Victoria museum are also uses various tools such as sticker notes, online
portal etc. through which they can communicate visitors and inform them about the historical
items and artefacts present in Albert and Victoria Museum.
Students are also attracted by the firms who comes to visit to conduct some research
which ill be used in their school and college project. For this, various programmes has been
introduced through which students can easily get information about the historical aspects.
All such methods and tools are used by government and other private firms about various
destinations with a motive of maximising experience of visitors (What is Heritage Tourism,
2017).
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded from the above project report that tourism business is growing
faster over period of time with the help of contribution given by publicly and privately owned
organisation. The government and Woodland are such two examples who performs for the
development of heritage and cultural sites. Introducing infrastructure and providing facilities at
the destination places helps in attracting large number of visitors which helps in generating huge
incomes as well. These all contributed maximum to economy of country through which UK can
attained strong position in the world. There are various methods and tools which are used by
government which help in interpreting the information about various heritage and cultural sites
with a motive of maximising the experience of visitors.
