INTRODUCTION
Cultural Plunge is an individual exposure to large group or persons markedly different in
culture such as language, socio-economic status, sexual orientation and physical exceptionality.
The Australian culture is Western which come from Britain but it is predominately a Christian
country with around 64% Australians are recognised as a Christian. It is seen that black skin
person and Torres Strait islander children or people are always treated as differently in the
community particularly by the country media. The cultural Plunge is that factor which motivate
the black skin person for protest for their rights in the society. This report is mainly focus on
cultural Plunge which is an individual exposure to person or large groups marked as contrasting
culture in the form of language, socio-economic position, sexual attitude and physical
exceptionality (Gouk, 2017). The purpose of this assignment is to understand the cultural Plunge
in black skin person who are live in Australia and analyse experience in different situations.
TASK
PART A
State your social positioning, identifying category and make a visit to an event
In Australia, there are several black skin people which are divided into two groups such
as indigenous people and other is Torres Strait Islander population. As per the black skin person,
I can see myself in the Australian country consider as others category which are less in size,
groups and population. The black skin people is directly link with the systematic discrimination,
marginalisation and silencing. In early years, there are more than 670000 black skin person or
Torres Straits Islander people were living in the Australia which is around 3% of the Australian
population (Rose, 2016). Along with this, in current time period the black skin person population
groups are reduces with large of range 340000. Social positioning is that position which is being
provided to an individual in the community. The social position is directly influence to the social
status of the black skin person. As a black skin person person, I am facing various issues because
large group of white individuals will not accept us because of my plunge (black skin colour) so
this will lower my confidence (Robinson and Jones Diaz, 2016).
According to my point of view, I have some issues which are related to poor health,
educational opportunity, life expectancy, employment option and some others. I have seen
myself as poor person who have nothing to stay and live in the society. Along with this, most of

the person friends, relatives and families who are black skin person are still unable to live on the
land and make struggle for uphold the diverse language and adopting various groups cultures.
Sometime, I am observe that children who grow in this society of Australia does not get their
rights through which they can not easily get best suitable jobs. This can be done for making an
evaluation among non black skin people regarding their early years and how it still effect our
society (Stavenhagen, 2015).
Identifying categories of black skin people in the society is very important for identifying
their actual positioning in such place. There are three categories of black skin person population
in Australia that includes Australian, Torres strait Islanders and Indigenous Australians (Lee,
2012). In the society of Australian people, I am considered as a black skin person person who are
live in the country with holding some equal rights. But after 30 year, I am still confirm my
culture which is usually required when applying for grants, housing assistance, unemployment,
university education, school programs and also when applied for a job that required an black skin
person candidate.
For given justification to the above aspects, I am sharing my experience as a black skin
person when I gone for an event where large number of white people are present. The cultural
Plunge is based on black skin colour on black skin person which make them emotional and
touched with their heart (Posti-Ahokas, Janhonen-Abruquah and Longfor, 2017). As a black skin
person, I feel very sad at that time when my colleagues, peers and boss tease me about my
ethnicity of community from which I belong which lower my morale and I feel very upset.
As per the Robinson and Jones Diaz, 2016 developing theories that inform the evaluation
and understanding of how young child are grow in their early childhood pedagogies which has
been developed for teach children which are predominately based on white, middle class,
scientific notions of childhood which exclude more cultural diversity concepts to early
education.
PART B
Describe Plunge experience and the central events
When I go for a office event where most of my colleagues are white who are present so I
feel very alone in this place. In this event, nobody was talking to me and does not stand beside
me. All the white people are feel uncomfortable with me and in-fact they does not shake hand

with me due to my black skin colour and way of talking. In this situation, I feel very
uncomfortable or unhappy when all the people join together for dinner and no one offer me any
thing at that time. At this movement, I thought that I should leave the party or event right now.
There are some person involved for making negative behaviour with me, they are staff members,
colleagues, peers, senior manager and some subordinates. I am feel like others as a black skin
individual who are discriminate on the basis of skin colour in every event.
By the plunge, I feel lonely standing with a large population so this will lower my
confidence and decrease morale. In this situation, I can not done my work with full of motivation
and also senior manager does not support me in any matter. This will reduces or decline my
working productivity on regular basis. I am learnt about this experience is that I require to ignore
all such things or if does not do this so stand alone or feel unhappy.
After this incident, I feel as I am from other community and does not belong to their
society. When I was interacting with others then I feel like as a part of minority for seeing their
reactions and response. White people are not interested in talking to me and I think they just hate
me about my black colour. This feel that black persons population are minor in the Australia
country. Apart from this, I am facing various challenges regarding my identity, social positioning
and subjectivity in the Australia nation. At the time, when I go for the office party so there are
different people who does not like to talk to me and they are feel me alone and discomfort at that
movement. I am face issues while acquiring education at the university, developing any
government document, apply for the job, etc.
Before the Plunge, I does not thought about my skin colour and it is not even matter for
me any more. Being of black skin person origin is crucial because it is totally link with the nation
and to the natural world (Robinson and Jones Diaz). At the same time, black skin people do not
believe upon the cultural plunge which is consider as skin colour and other white individual are
judge me on the basis of my society. As per the (MacNaughton, 2005) the kinship, household,
connectedness and relatedness are the basis of black skin person world reviews and such
philosophy undertaken the development and formulation of black skin person social community.
As a black skin person, I will take a decision regarding whole white society that I participate in
their each activity and behave good with them whether talk to me or not.
During the plunge, I am very uncomfortable because people see me as a different person
who does not belong to the society. They does not talk to me so I felt very left-out at that time

but unable to do anything. All the white individual behaviour towards me as wired or different
from others.
This experience teach me that I am able to do any thing without support of any one. If I
try to deal with all racism activity so this will not affected me when I go for an event. I learnt that
all white people are conscious about their status and they does not talk to me because I am
belong to the black skin social group. The Australian people are analysed that black skin
individual seen under as minority population. So normal people are observe them as a lower
class person who have not correct talking sense and way of thinking. They are unhygienic and
live at any place whether it is road or footpath (Sorokin, 2017). The Australian population treated
the black skin person community as a plunge which is considered as dark black colour. If
Australian person behaviour towards “others” like does not talk to them and tease them about
their skin colour so their children are also learn it and also behave in the same way with the black
skin people.
PART C
Implication to being a teacher in future career
Teacher play an important role in forming the students future career which help in
developing attitude and spirit among them. Therefore, teacher are considered as a mentor, guide
or instructor for the children so it is essential that they are informed about various job
availability, knowledge required and professional training and development to them (Power,
2012). If I select teaching as a career for future, so firstly I will eliminate or remove the
discrimination among all the Australian people regarding black skin person community. I will
give equal chance and opportunities to normal and others children in the school activities. I will
teach them to respect each other in any situation and does not disregard any one due to his/her
caste or religion. While doing work as a teacher, I always remind that incident when I go for an
event after that decided I will never develop discrimination among the children regarding black
person populations. Apart from this, there are various policies which are develop by government
for black skin individual population and this will provide me opportunities to live independent in
the society. Also they are introduce different programmes for promoting black skin person
society people which assist me in reaching with higher success and growth. Along with this, I
will treat all my children whether they are white or black in good way. Also meet their parents

with full of respect and also conduct program for the children where they learn how to behave
with others.
There are various implications which are occur at the time of giving knowledge to the
school children in the education centre. As a teacher, I need to treat all people as equal basis
which reduces discrimination among all children. If I treat all people as equal and never do
diversity or differences among all the school kids so their families are happy with me.
Australia is the unique history in which important elements are black skin persons
populations. In this nation, there are different types of people who have different culture. The
country consider the rich cultural diversity and differences among their people regarding caste,
religion and culture (Smith-Augustine and et. al., 2014). In Australia, there are various amazing
people, diverse culture, memorising view about the world. In this nation, there are two culture
people that are white and black. This culture divide people into two groups which developing
discrimination among them. By this, they does not talk each other in good manner and consider
black people as lower caste who are belong to the others society.
As per the Giugni 2010, experience of black skin person in pre school they are faces
issues and problems while making relation with other students. It will raise awareness of various
issues among specific group of black skin children, families and early childhood teaching
experience at this time.
CONCLUSION
From the above described assignment, it can be concluded that in the Australian country
there are various black person and Torres Strait islander children or people who are always
treated as differently in the community particularly by the country media. For identifying
categories of black skin person in the society is important for distinguishing their existent
placement in such region.
