Classical Management Theory in Mental Health Foundation
MHF requires many activities to carry for its smooth functioning and raising the funds. The
implementation of the classical management approach would be very much fruitful for MHF
as this will collectively help the volunteers to work in a cooperative manner, where they
learn, teach and develop the new volunteer so that they can work effectively for the cause.
This approach will help the volunteers to manage the different activities for fundraising and
will also help in maintaining the discipline as the rules and procedures will be followed
strictly in the organization helping all the volunteers and patients regularly with clarity what
is to be done and how it is to be done.
There are chances that conflict may arise in the whole process of fundraising and managing
various activities but with the application of this approach, the administrative functions and
principles will make the operation of the other task effective and in a productive manner.
This approach is very much useful in the smooth functioning of MHF as it provides ease in
performing various task in undertaking various activities of MHF. MHRF is working on a very
huge level and it is working for the betterment of the people who are suffering from mental
health. The volunteers, staff members and staff has to plan so many things in before fulfil
their vision and objectives for which managing different activities at a different level is
required and with the application of the theory it makes it easy and effective.

The benefit of this approach:
1. Structured: This approach is very much structured as there is a systematic hierarchy is
being followed with all the rules and regulations. This will help MHF to take out various
activities in the foundation for the treatment of the patients.
2. Increases productivity: These approaches keep close supervision of the performance of
the employees so that there is no lag in the performance. Likewise in MHF also the
implementation of this approach will efficiently result in higher funds.
Challenge faced by the human services organization:
Pressure: In MHF many people are working as volunteers and they need to take so
many decisions related to different areas like, doctors, patients, camps, medicines, etc.
it is a big challenge for MHF to decide on certain things which creates a pressure on the
volunteers.
Conflict prone: As this approach follows a strict hierarchy and rules which may lead to
conflict among the volunteers and staff as it was rigid the creativity and new ideas of
working in MHF.
Theory 2: Behavioral Theory
This theory works based on the behaviour of the employees and a manager working in the
organization. The behaviour of the manager towards the employees working in the
organization plays an important role in the success and performance of the organization as
a whole (Wheldall and Merrett, 2017). Other than this it also impacts the behaviour and
psychology of the employees working in the organization. This theory focuses on the
various factors that affect the employee's job satisfaction and how they response towards
management. This theory comprises of two factors which are as follows:
1. Human Relation Theory: This theory focuses on the fact that how superiors or the
managers are interacting with their sub-ordinates. This human relation theory gives a
huge impact on the working and productivity of the employees in the organization. The

focus of this theory is human and human relations. If the work environment is healthy
then it will directly affect the productivity of the employees and vice-a-versa. Elton
Mayo is referred as the father of this theory as he conducted a series of experiment on
the managers and the employees to understand the impact of the human relation
theory (Wheldall and Merrett, 2017).
2. Behavioral Science Theory: This theory focuses well the employees are being treated in
the organization. The level of ignorance, autocratic, poor working condition, pressure
etc. creates a response from the employees which are a negative response and affects
productivity. On the other hand, the better working condition, attention, and
belongingness of the employee give them a feeling of importance in the organization
(Wheldall and Merrett, 2017).
Behavioural Theory in Mental Health Foundation:
Behavioural theory and human relation are very much important in such human services
organization. MHF is working for the people who are not mentally fit require a higher level
of human relations and friendly behavioural approach. With the implementation of this
theory, the work of the volunteers to treat and handle the various patients will become very
much easy. The volunteers need to interact with various doctors, specialist, influential
people for fundraising, introducing the new technologies on the organization. This will add
betterment to MHF.
The behavioural and human relation theory helps the volunteers to deal with different
patients who are suffering mentally. There are various kids, teens, adults who are required
to be treated in a very different and special manner. Most of the people who are not
mentally sound or fit require a friendly and loving approach towards them. If this theory is
implemented in MHF it will become very much easy for the staff and the volunteers to
handle everything easily. The human relation theory works on how the volunteers are being
treated by the staff and the owner of the organization, the reason for the successful growth
of MHF is the volunteers and the staff who are doing extensive hard work and research for

the treatment of the mentally ill people. If the volunteers are given recognition, rewards,
achievements then they will be motivated to work with the organization. This altogether
promotes a different level of motivation, positive and healthy working environment which
ultimately will result in better treatment and high fundraising for MHF.
Benefits of this theory
1. Job satisfaction: The volunteers who are working with MFH are very hardworking and
want to attain the goal of the organization. This given high satisfaction within them. This
is because they are been treated well by the staff and the owner of MHF. If this is not
done then the number of volunteers will decrease and the attainment of the goals will
not be done with higher-level (Kitana, 2016).
2. Healthy working environment: This theory promotes healthy relation with volunteers in
MHF and ultimately healthy working culture is created. There is no rumours and politics
in the organization. If the healthy work environment is not given the interest and the
motivation of the volunteers will decrease.
Challenges faced by this theory
1. Internal conflict: The human relation theory is always prone to have conflicts which a
big challenge to MHF as the volunteers may get into conflict with each other, with
doctors, with staff etc. which affects the peace of the organization.
2. Time-consuming: To build relationships with the patients, volunteers, staff etc. is a bit
difficult and time-consuming task. This time lag may lead to lower fundraising which is
not good for MHF as it has to carry various activities son daily basis for the smooth
functioning of the organization.
