1WORKPLACE CULTURE
Importance of culture in an organization:
Describe- Every organization stands on certain values and beliefs and the behavior that are
maintained by the leaders of the organization and in turn followed by the employees which
helps to differentiate one organization from the other. Thus, organizational culture plays a
major role in shaping the structure of the organization. Organizational culture is interpreted
differently by different organization.
Interpret: Businesses understand the importance of a positive culture in order to attain the
goal of the organization (Alvesson and Sveningsson 2015). I have learnt that positive
organizational culture contributes to the psychological and social environment of a business.
The culture in an organization influences the communication within and outside of the
organization, the ways of looking into the operations and planning within the organization for
a better performance (Hogan and Coote 2014). The beliefs, principles of its members,
collective values and so on signifies the organization. I strongly feel that organizational
culture depends on the market, technology used by the company, he strategies, history,
national culture, type of the employees, style of management , systems, rules and regulations,
products, language, symbol, environment, location, beliefs, assumptions and vision of the
company. The culture in an organization changes the power of perceiving and thinking of the
employees. Thus, it teaches me how organizational culture plays a vital role in maintaining
the favorable working conditions for all the employees. The culture in an organization thus
plays a major role in the way groups or people interact with each other and with the clients.
Evaluate: In the business field, the terms company culture and corporate culture are used to
refer to a similar concept that helps us in evaluating the current working conditions of the
organization. There can be positive and negative culture of the organization. Positive

organizational culture impacts the behavior of the employees positively. The positive
organizational culture:
Helps in creating a healthy environment for every single employee to stay loyal and
motivated towards the organization (Turner 2014). Culture of a workplace promotes a
healthy bonding amongst the employees and promotes a healthy competition at the
workplace.
Helps in building an emotional attachment to the organization. The culture in an
organization cultivates and evokes a sense of commitment and belonging towards the
organization. It also evokes a sense of togetherness and unity around workplace.
Culture of an organization helps in extracting the best out of each employee and thus
improves the overall performance of the organization. The culture around the
workplace inculcates a habit into the individuals that motivates them to work and
make the workplace a successful organization.
Plan: Thus, each company should follow some measures associated with the employees
so that they work accordingly. The culture of a workplace implies some predefined rules
and blueprints that will help the employee with proper guidance to follow the right
direction at the workplace (Alas and Mousa 2016). Every individual should be clear with
their roles and responsibilities and know the ways for achieving the goal of the
organization. The organizational culture should also create a common platform for all the
employees where all the employees are treated equally and no discrimination is made
based on caste, creed and religion. The work culture also should have the aim of uniting
the employees coming from different backgrounds, mentalities, families and varied
attitudes. Employees should not make use of their higher position in the organization and
will thus be able to create a sense of harmony within the workplace. Thus, in order to
improve in the future, I would acknowledge and value the ideology of others irrespective

of the background, caste, creed, mentality and attitude of the employees. This attitude will
help me to lead my team members much more effectively and efficiently. In order to
improve the working conditions and organizational culture I would implement a SMART
plan for the same.
Smart Objective: The main objective is to improve the organizational culture by
improving my own skill sets.
Measurable: The goals of the organization should be measured through certain processes
like the training sessions, meetings and by interacting with the employees to understand
the direction of their work in order to complete the task.
Attainable: The goals of the organization should be formulated in such a manner that the
employees should be able to work towards this attainment. They should understand the
importance of team work and abide by the team leader in order to successfully attend the
goals.
Relevant: The goals set by the entrepreneurs should be related to the vision that is set out
by the firm. Thus the employees should work together in order to analyze and understand
the importance of the vision of an organization.
Time-bound: The objectives of the organization have to be achieved by the employees.
As a result, they should work in such a manner where such a goal can be achieved within
a stipulated time limit. This entire process of improving the culture of the organization
will take up-to 10 weeks.
