CYBER SECURITY 2
Introduction
In this physical age numerous cyber threats against the national’s oil, natural gas
pipelines have grown concerns about security threats to nation’s pipelines, their connection to the
federal programs and electric power sector to protect these pipelines. The September 11, 2001,
terror attacks has led to “new risks to the state’s pipeline structures have grown to include
disruption by cyber attack, interruption by nations and environmental activists .” In the year
2018 Federal Transportation Security Administration said that it believes pipeline businesses
will report about 32 “security incidents” yearly—both cyber and physical . The Pipeline would
need the government support to improve coordination amongst government bodies and energy
unit in pipeline safety; manage incident response as well as recovery; support the development of
technologies, demonstration projects, training curricula, pipeline cybersecurity applications; and
offer technical apparatuses for pipeline security(Blake Sobczak,2017).
The government need to focus on innovative systems while relying on the information and
technology department to offer a first-line of security on the pipeline. Even though natural gas
pipeline fire outbursts , while distressing and every so often deadly, are not the biggest worry for
the energy sector. Attribution of cyber cases is challenging, but expert scrutiny of the malicious
code and the attack techniques combined with intelligence collection and law enforcement can
recognize responsible people during cyber attack incidents. Furthermore Combining diverse,
perspectives, skills and conditions is required to meet successfully multi-faceted, vigorous
challenges of security .Using new approaches such as Network-based separation can help
mitigate cyber security since the perimeter of any big national infrastructure such as pipeline s
