Rationale
Online abuse and cyber crime is rife on social media as well as other sites across the
globe and different countries are attempting to deal with the situations in a different manner.
However, in United Kingdom the cyber crime can be broken into two different categories.
The primary one is the most common abuse directed to someone, often by ex partners,
classmate or colleague. The second category is the one where the blackmailers threaten the
victims, if their demands are not met. Women are mainly the victims and the attackers often
threaten to post their morphed pictures online. Cyber crime has now become a global
problem and is rapidly increasing. The research will focus on the issues faced by the victims
and how they reacted on this. In addition to this, the research will also propose some
strategies in order to regulate the issue to some extent.
Aims and objectives
The aim of the research is to analyze the current situation of cyber crime and the ways
it can be regulated.
The research objectives are as follows:
i. To examine the current scenario of cyber violence.
ii. To find out why is this issue increasing rapidly.
iii. To find out which section of the society is mainly targeted.
iv. To recommend a number of better strategies that could be used for the regulation of
cyber violence.

Cyber Violence
Today, more and more people have the power to access the social media and internet.
The cyber violence has become an increasing concern, which is mainly targeting women and
young girls. Researchers dealing with this topic have estimated that one in ten women faced
some sort of cyber crime or violence. In addition to this, it is seen that mostly the younger
girls are targeted and become the victim of severe cyber violence forms. In order to shed
more light on this growing challenge, experts have published some guidelines which can
regulate the violence to some extent. Moreover, United Kingdom has adopted some good
practices and interventions in order to address the issue in an appropriate manner.
Research Methodology
The data has been collected from the secondary sources and a qualitative research
method has been carried out. Quantitative research method has helped in gaining useful
insights from the existing sources like literatures, theses and existing papers on this topic.
Various scholars have presented their valuable opinions on this topic, which has helped in
framing the research in a detailed manner. Moreover, the existing materials are being utilized
and presented in an ethical manner, without any fabrication. Citations are given in an
appropriate manner. However, more information will be given after carrying out a qualitative
research method. The qualitative research method will help in gathering an in depth
understanding of the human behavior regarding the topic and how it can be regulated.
Interviews and surveys will help in establishing the paper more appropriately. Along with
that, questionnaires will be given out to the college and university students for the statistical
representation of the study’s findings. Interviews with the experts in the related area will be
conducted for more detailed approach.
