A group discussion was held in our class on 1st April, 2019. The topic of the discussion was
cyber bullying. Every member of the group presented their view on cyber bullying. One of my
colleagues gave a clear definition of cyber bullying and explained the various platforms where a
person can face cyber bullying. One group member explained that cyber bullying has a great
impact on the society and it can harass people with abusive comments, photos or videos that may
hamper the reputation and shame the victim. I explained the reason of cyber bullying by stating
that it gives the person who conducts the bully, a sense of confidence, courage and raised ego by
bullying another weak person because social media is a platform where the person can hide own
identity and say anything that cannot be said face to face. The statement that was highly agreed
by every member was that cyber bullying can be very dangerous for the victims as it leads to
bulimia, depression, harassment, loss of confidence and sometimes it forces the victim to commit
suicide.
One of the group members stated some suggestions following which the prevention of cyber
bullying may become easy and it can be reduced to certain extent. According to him the different
social media platform has provided its users some options to block or report the person who is
conducting a bully, following which any user can easily report it to the platform so that
appropriate step can be taken against the person that may include imprisonment of the person for
few months. I suggested that the duration of imprisonment of the attacker can be increased
depending on the level of bullying conducted to prevent further bullying activity of the person in
future. Through the group discussion, all the members of the groups helped in highlighting the
good and bad sides of cyber bullying and also helped in generating new ideas that can be helpful
to prevent cyber bullying.

Last week a group discussion was held in our class on cyber bullying. The aim of the cyber
bullying was to discuss its social impact, advantages and disadvantages of cyber bullying and its
prevention. I started the group discussion stating that cyber bullying is the means of harassing,
humiliating, frightening, threatening or abusing any person using digital technologies such as
social media websites including FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube, Snap chat or Instagram and
through messages using any computer or cell phone. My colleague explained different forms of
cyber bullying such as using personal data for blackmail, posting images or videos of victim on
online platform that can harass or humiliate the victim or sending abusive messages repeatedly to
disturb the victim. Also there is a higher scope of harassment as the published content is public
and can be seen by a larger audience.
Another member of the group explained that such means of bullying can create a bad impact on
the victim and influence him or her to become stressed, depressed or even toward suicidal
attempts. On the other hand, the individual practicing cyber bully feels proud and confident. And
sometimes it has been also seen that the victims gain more strength to stand up for themselves.
According to this member, the victims can report a person on social networking sites, if they are
facing a bully. I gave an idea about the density of cyber bullying by saying that according to the
National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), among five children one is
victim of cyber bullying and in a national bullying survey of UK it has been came forward that
almost 91% of people agree that proper actions against bully conducting individuals were not
taken. At the end of the discussion, it has been noticed that the aims has been well achieved and
all the members participated in the discussion actively and presented their own view on the topic.

The topic of the group discussion that we had last week in the class is cyber bullying and all the
members of the group presented their opinions on the topic. My colleague was seemed to provide
a clear idea about the concept of Cyber bullying and explained how it can hamper the physical
and psychological environment of the individual who is being attacked be the bully. Another
member of the group emphasized that cyber bullying can become a huge issue if not treated
earlier by reporting the attacker to the police, or discussing about the incident to the parents or
friends. The person who is suffering from a cyber bully may undergo mental illness; feel
helpless, worthless and depressed. Sometimes it provokes the individual to commit suicide as
well. However, I explained various ways that can prevent cyber bullying and decrease the
percentage of cyber bully to certain level. One of the best ways to report against cyber bully is to
gather proper proofs against the attackers by taking clear screenshot of the contents or abusive
comments or messages. The users of social media must follow a SMART concept for preventing
cyber bully.
My colleague also stated that keeping the personal information like phone number, contact
details, real name private in social media platform can help the users in preventing cyber bully.
On the other hand, one of the group member disagreed to this saying that real name and name of
schools or universities cannot be kept private as it is important for interview or a job, whereas,
the users have to be more conscious towards the contents they are posting online so that there
will be less threat of privacy disclosure. The group discussion helped the members to gather
more knowledge on the subject and enhanced the communication skill and it also helped in
expressing the personal views and suggesting solutions for reduction and elimination of cyber
bullying.

On 1st April, 2019, a group discussion was arranged in our class and the group members
discussed on cyber bullying and portrayed their diverse viewpoints regarding cyber bullying. The
group discussion was started with the provision of a understandable and transparent definition of
cyber bully that was presented by my colleague. Another colleague recommended some
preventive measures that can help in reducing the amount of cyber bullying in UK. I explained
that the person who conducts cyber bully through social media and other online platforms use
mainly their smart phones and personal computers as an weapon and harasses, humiliates or
frightens their target individuals by sending messages, altered images of the victims or some
private information that may risk the individual if published publicly. One group member said
that cyber bully can be proven dangerous as it lowers the confidence level of the individual being
attacked and often the level of harassment can be big enough that lead to suicide. This was also
accepted by other members of the group.
Another member of the group informed that cyber bully is a criminal offense and there are
numerous ways to report against this practice and aggressor may face terrible punishment such as
imprisonment under the 2003 Communication Act. However, I did not agree with this saying that
as per an UK national bullying survey, it has been reported that 91% of people who complained
that they are facing cyber bullying told that the problem was not solved as no action was taken
against the aggressor. The other group members agreed that some policies should be present for
provision of certain level of freedom for the protection of human rights. The group discussion
was proven to be very fascinating because all of us were very energetic in presenting arguments
on cyber bullying, recommending plans for prevention of this practice in online platforms.

In the group discussion that occurred last week in class, the group member had to discuss on the
custom of cyber bullying which is very prominent in UK nowadays. The basis of cyber bullying
was discussed and one of the group members who clearly stated what cyber bullying actually is
and how it affects the individuals who are target of this custom. One of my colleague discussed
that cyber bullying can have certain forms to humiliate any individual and it mainly targets the
youth and children taking advantage of their weakness. It was also stated by me that some forms
of cyber bullying can be extreme and can lead to harassment of a person in public which can
result in suicide also. One of the group members explained that sometimes some users in the
social networking websites posts unethical contents using the identity of another person and
which can turn into a bigger issue if not identified and reported earlier. Such means of cyber
bullying can attack the self-esteem and beliefs of the users of social media.
I explained that cyber bullying is very dangerous as it can arrive anytime and anywhere which
threatens the victims and in many schools, students cannot share their thoughts regarding this
problem with teachers because of the guidelines and discipline of the schools. Two of my group
members agreed that in cyber bullying, the ways to report against attackers has become easier
because as the received abusive comments, texts or emails can be easily shown as evidence as
these cannot be taken back by the attacker. This it is helpful for the victim, parents, friends or
teacher in solving the problem. They explained that the policies of social media sites such as face
book and Twitter, are very strict against such practices and enables users to prevent and report
the attackers easily. So, the discussion was beneficial for us as we gathered knowledge
regarding different forms of cyber bullying and generate ideas to stop this violent practice.

On April 1st 2019, in a group discussion on cyber bullying the group members presented various
judgments in the class. I began the group discussion by defining the notion of cyber bullying and
highlighting the pessimistic effect of it on the community. Two of my group members proposed
numerous solutions for stopping and decreasing the amount of cyber bullying. As explained by
me, cyber bullying is form of humiliation, harassment and threat that some people do via use of
mobile phones and PCs through sending SMS, MMS or posting some unethical contents like
pictures or videos of any other person or some sexual content that may create violence. My
colleague informed us that many children are victim of cyber bullying and faces serious trouble
like depression, harassment in front of other students, teachers and friends. However another
member of the group told that certain forms of cyber bullying gives the attacker an immense
pleasure and helps by gaining confidence and courage. So, it is very essential to stop this
practice.
All the group members agreed that the policies of social media sites help in blocking the attacker
so that further interaction with those persons can be stopped. On the other hand, using the
contents as evidence it has become very easier to report against such people. However, I
disagreed with one of the statement made by one group member that by just blocking further
interaction can be stopped because there is an increased tendency among the attackers for
creating a new profile on social media and harassing the victims repeatedly. So, people have to
be more conscious on what they should post in an online platform because if content is sent
successfully it cannot be taken back. Thus this discussion helped us to know different unknown
facts regarding cyber bullying and suggest some ways so that this custom can be prohibited.

In a group discussion, held on 1st April in our class, the members of the groups have discussed
on the emerging practice of cyber bullying. The discussion started with a brief introduction to
cyber bullying, given by my colleague who explained that it is a kind of bullying that occurs over
digital devices like computers, laptops, tablets and cell phones through text, online forums,
gaming websites, social media where people gather virtually to share their ideas, life events or
participate in contests or just to make friends. I explained that cyber bullying includes sharing,
posting or sending harmful, negative, false or private content of someone else that can embarrass
the individual. My another colleague told that social media like FaceBook, Snap chat, Instagram,
Twitter and YouTube are the major places where one can become the sufferer of cyber bullying.
One member of the group said that frequency of cyber bullying is increasing drastically in UK. It
has also been stated that the report against the attackers remains unsolved. Another member has
suggested that the victims of cyber bullying generally become depressed and hurt by the
offensive and hurtful contents relating to race of an individual, physical appearance or sometimes
life threatening issues. These comments or messages can be hazardous and generate a thought of
suicide among the sufferer. I informed my group members about various ways, which can be
followed to prevent this and there are certain laws that punishes the attacker by sending him or
her to jail for some time. Apart from that, there are some preventive measures that can be used
by the users of social media platforms. For an example, YouTube has an option to flag any video
that is inappropriate to the platform, Face book, Twitter, WhatsApp have a block option and
privacy option to share contents with some trusted people only. This group discussion was
helpful to the group members as it helped in gathering more information of the subject as
everyone was engaged in the discussion actively and shared their views.
