Introduction
The study is based on the child and youth care practice that relates to the five domains
that are Professionalism, Applied Human Development, Cultural and Human Diversity,
Developmental Practices Methods, Relationship and Communication. Five different artefacts has
been studied that relates to the CYC career and the five domains of CYC. The study reflects the
knowledge gained from studying the different domains and how the knowledge can be
implemented in the practice of serving the children, youths and families. The plans that I have
developed to implement in the practice of CYC relating to the knowledge gained from the
artefacts are also explained along with the suggestions.

1. Domain: Professionalism
Reflection:
From the artefact I have understood that professionalism is very important in CYC. I
have felt that child and youth care is very sensitive. Professionalism towards the children and
youth can meet the trust of the family (Lindsay, M. 2017).
Applying all the responsibilities which have been mentioned in the code of ethics together, I plan
to take care of children, youth and families without any partiality and help them to develop their
self-actualization.
Studying the artefact I have gained the following knowledge
Requirement of maintaining high professionalism towards the job
Personal values and timely implementation of practice.
The importance of self-care.
I am curious about how professionalism can be achieved in the youth and child care. I
think the CYC professionals should assure themselves that the encouragement for seeking good
qualification for the betterment of the service is essential for children and youth care.

2. Domain: Cultural and Human Diversity
Reflection:
After studying the artefact I think that the Convention on the Rights of the Child is
important for CYC practitioners as it can reduce discrimination in the provision of care to the
child, families and youth.
I will ensure full protection and well being of the child and look after their duties and
rights of his legal guardian. I will develop practices to ensure the maximum possible extension of
the survival and improvement of the child's life.
The artefact has opened my knowledge regarding the following areas
Every child should have their freedom to express their feelings.
All the children who are physically or mentally disable should enjoy a decent life
(Ohchr.org. 2020).
It is important to recognize the needs of the child.
I am curious about the degree to which CYC practitioners follows the government rules. I
think the distribution process of government articles should be strong and the CYC practitioners
should always update themselves with new amendments.

3. Domain: Applied Human Development
Reflection:
The video is very important to me as this increases the level of awareness regarding the
special abilities of the children with Down syndrome and it will improve my understanding about
CYC practice.
I also plan to identify the needs of these special children and meet them. I wish to
motivate the children with Down syndrome to identify the things that they can do in their life.
The knowledge and skills that I have gained from studying the video are
The cause of the down syndrome
Children having down syndrome are unique and held special skills
Communication and motivation can inspire down-syndrome patients
Support of the family members is very important for special children
Based on the artefact, I am questioning about the method to inspire family members and
friends of the down-syndrome patients. I believe that the needs of the families can be assessed
and they can be guided toward the available community resources and support (Phillips, Conners
& Curtner-Smith, 2017).

4. Domain: Relationship and Communication
Reflection:
From the article I have recognised the importance of communication and relationship in
the regulations of quality in CYC. I have understood that communication and relationship are
considered in the matter of instant environment and its circumstances.
I have planned to do some work with respect to the knowledge which I have gained
through the article. I will Reduce cultural differences in the style of communication and develop
the way of communication with the application of communication theory verbally or
nonverbally.
I have gained some skill related to CYC that are listed below:

After studying the artefact I am questioning are CYC practitioners following two-way

Reflection:
The video is important to me as it provided information regarding intervention planning,
behavioural guidance, and community engagement in CYC relating to the youth having criminal
tendencies.
I plan to increase the level of awareness among the public regarding the Youth Criminal
Justice Act and develop a genuine relationship with the youths. I also plan to educate youths
with criminal tendencies regarding the games, music, crafts, sports and arts.
