A. Needs Assessment
Determine the gap
In the newly launched oncology department, the gap was identified. The staffs of the
department must undergo training and avail the certification on the cytotoxic spill
management (He, Mendelsohn-Victor, McCullagh, & Friese, 2017). The training would help
the staff to perform effective roles and responsibilities in delivering care. Further, this would
make the clinical setting free from any hazardous incidences. However, there was a report of
increased incidences due to poor handling of the cytotoxic agent handling.
It was found that the staffs of the oncology department lacks knowledge of identifying
the responsibilities of the manufacturer and management of risks involved due to cytotoxic
agents. Further, it was found that the practice of disposing of the cytotoxic agents was poor as
if they do not find the specific dustbin than they dispose of with the general dustbin. The
practice of safety precaution is also low as staff often lack in the usage of spill kit (Capoor &
Bhowmik, 2017).
Organisational Training needs
The organisation needs training if their employees lack in performing their tasks and
responsibilities. Training act as a performance improvement mechanism or tool that would
enhance the outcome of the employees. Further, the improvement in the performance of the
employees would help the organisation as a whole in accomplishing the goals and objectives

session for the trainees to resolve any additional queries at the end of the training course. The
participants were lesser in number, and therefore, it has an opportunity for the trainees to
engage more with their trainers and instructors.

The resources included in delivering the training are from the highly known training
provider institute. The trainers are highly qualified in delivering the course as they have
relevant credentials and experiences in the same field of profession.

The training has held a quiz in the initial stage, of course, that helps the trainer or
