Serial Entrepreneurship
The primary international theme which has emerged from the case study can be mentioned to
be related to the Serial Entrepreneurship theme. A serial entrepreneur can be considered to be
an individual who comes up with new ideas and ideologies very often and in consideration of
this, tends to function under the belief that, they are being able to expand the opportunities in
the market as much as possible. The case of Dangote has witnessed continuous buyouts and
expansion of opportunities which diversified the portfolio of the Dangote Group (Reed 2019).
According to Wright and Westhead (2016), curiosity and the passion to start a business
enterprise can be mentioned to be a major reason why the different enterprises want to
engage in various opportunities. It is in regards to this that, the Dangote way of working and
operating can be mentioned to be related to Serial Entrepreneurship characters. This is
because, a serial entrepreneur, faces a number of failures but these failures do not stop the
individual from undertaking various other business ideas. Moreover, the networking system
of the entrepreneurship is very high.
The firm under Dangote also owns various salt factories, flour mills and is a major importer of rice,
pasta, fish, cement as well as fertiliser. In addition to this, the group engages in the export of the
cashew, nuts, cocoa, sesame seeds, ginger and cotton to several countries (Lafontaine and Shaw
2016). Moreover, the Serial Entrepreneur may fail a few times but they do have the
capability to rise again and perform well. Pertaining to this, it can be mentioned that,
although Dangote has made several mistakes and has been required to sell away various units
and acquire new ones he has not lost his confidence and his will to excel.

Moreover, another reason why the operations of the firm relate to the Serial Entrepreneurship
theme is that the company has managed its acquisitions well and has good timing. Aliko
Dangote is a professional who has made use of his hard work and passion in order to see to it
that they are being able to manage the enterprise and acquire the diversified brand portfolio.
Moreover, stable leadership is also required in the case of serial entrepreneurship which in
this case can be mentioned to be present in the case of the Dangote Group (Reed 2014).
Moreover, the networking system of the entrepreneurship is very high. This can be witnessed
by the fact that apart from the business opportunities, Dangote has also engaged in considerable
charity activities under which he has contributed a considerable sum to renovate the national stadium
Abuja. At present, the Dangote Group is dominating the sugar market as well as the refinery business
and the main supplier in such a case, owns 70% of the market share. The refinery of the firm tends to
produce 800000 tonnes of sugar annually. Hence, the expansion and considerate diversification of the
business reflects the characteristics of the Serial entrepreneurship.
