The concept of education is changing a lot in the current scenario. The education process
must be including the children and also all their family members. Thus, teachers have to involve
the parents and the other family members of the children in the education process and make sure
that there is a close binding between the children and the family members. The given extract
talks about a child called Dante, who is about to go in the second grade. Aiyana thinks that all
the children must be taught through play activities. The different kinds of play activities include
video games, television watching and other such activities. These will help in making Dante
much more active in taking part in educational activities (Paciorek, 2015). The family members
of Dante initially seemed to be very worried regarding the restlessness and also the occasional
feats of anger that hen develops at home. Thus his parents are afraid that there are too much of
distractions present at Dante’s class like music, games and other such activities (Hollins, 2015).
Thus the parents initially felt that it is because of these distractions that Dante's studies are
getting hampered. However, the teacher assured the family that Dante will be able to carry on the
studies properly and also cultivate his interests in different fields.
As per the opinion of McDevitt and Ormrod (2016) involvement of the family members
on the education process of the children is a very good aspect. This helps the child to get the
active support from all the members knowing that he can count upon them whenever necessary.
Dante's parents and also his uncle showed great concern about the education of their ward that is
Dante (Paciorek, 2015). They realized that to make sure that Dante gets a very bright future, he
must be asked to give much more importance over the studies of that he is engrossed in the
current educational context. García et al. (2017) have argued in a similar context that too much
pressure on the children can be bad and have discouraging impacts on the growth and

development of the child in future. Thus it is really very important to give them the freedom so
that they can actually learn about the newer and the dynamic methods. For instance, Dante’s
teacher said that they too ant a bright and secured future for Dante. Thus they want to support
him in all possible ways so that he can develop a good position for himself in the long run. She
assured the family members that the school conducts all the play activities and the games in the
classes so that the children can have a good and refreshing mindset.
The play activities will help the children to move in the right direction as per their own
choice. However, the school and the education board as a whole wants the children to have open
horizontal communication with their parents (Paciorek, 2015). Parents must be concerned about
the content that is present in the video games, or the television showed that the children are
watching. However, Dante's parents must always help him to gather newer any dynamic ideas for
learning. This will help him to find out different new methods of learning, and he will be able
learning to stay independent in his life.
Case Study 27
This part of the case study talks about one of the class projects called the ocean animal
project. This class project was mainly conducted so that the teachers can create a very diverse
learning environment and make all their students develop a proper team working spirit. This
project was mainly hinted at motivating and encouraging the students to take part in group-based
activity and respects each other irrespective of their cultural and their socio-economic
differences. Different students have different kinds of interest, and it is the duty of the teachers to
nurture them properly. A student named Edward had a great interest in making sketches rather
than writing or speaking. Thus he was insulted by many of his classmates.

Another student called Nashawna, who says that painting is nothing bad. It is really very
special and just represents different kinds of dynamic methods in which the students try to learn.
Thus it can be concluded from the case that the parent involvement in the learning process of the
children is really very essential. Parents must always guide their children so that they can
overcome their drawbacks.
