Task 1
Invention of Smartphones has been done in some year ago. It is not a too old invention but the
device has become popular to the customers at a huge rate. The Smartphones are getting popular
globally. The success rate of this device is too high. According to the data of Deloitte the annual
sales of Smartphones in UK is near about 1.5 billion and the sales per day is near about four
million. Near about 85%, adults in the country are using Smartphones and it is assumed that the
use of Smartphones will be increased to 90% within 2020. The usage rate of Smartphones within
the 16-75 years old people is 91% and the total population of 16-75 years people in the country is
41 million. The Smartphone companies are increasing the capabilities of the Smartphones and it
is making the devices more popular.
It is expected that within few years the gigabyte connectivity in the Smartphones will connect the
people all over the world. The processing power of the Smartphones will be significantly higher
within next few years. The artificial intelligence is getting popular with and it is replacing the use
of human mind. The people are being more habituated with the use of artificial intelligence. The
Smartphones are also using the artificial intelligence and it helps to increase the market of
Smartphones in UK. The statistics of popularity of Smartphones among the working people in
the country will be given below:

Task 2
According to the report of Deloitte the Smartphone usage among the adults are increasing in the
country with time. From 2012 the Smartphone, laptop and tablet using has been increased in a
significant rate. The data of Smartphone usage among the adults from 2012 to 2017 will be
explained below through a linear chart.

The above table denotes that the rate of using the devices have been increased over the years.
The rate of increment in the usage of the devices has been increased in a particular manner. The

rates of the previous years can help to forecast the upcoming rate of the device using. From the
three devices in the rate of the usage of Smartphones is highest. The linear graph of the usage
rate of the devices has denoted that the smart devices are getting popular to the people of UK.
The devices are also being upgraded for the convenience of the people in the country. The linear
forecasting is an added advantage of excel that helps to forecast the upcoming rate based on the
present rate of entities. In this report, the linear forecasting will be used to forecast the rate of
using the devices in the country for 2018 and 2019.

The linear forecasting in this case might not give the accurate result as the data have been
fluctuated over the years. The historical data for the linear trend analysis is not always enough
for turning up the future picture of the trend. The actual result might vary than the forecasted

rate. The turning points of the rates are not properly visible in the linear forecasting. The linear
historical data is not enough to show the accurate forecast. The time series model can be more
applicable in this case. The time series model will help to consider the timing and it will increase
the rate of accuracy in the model.

Task 3
The research of BBC has indicated that the Smartphones are being more popular within the older
people of the country. It has found that near about 71% people within the age of 55 to 75 years
are using Smartphones (BBC News, 2017). The research has found some features of
Smartphones that have made it so popular within the older people. The features of the
Smartphones will be described below:
 Facebook is the most important reason; doing Facebook has been easier through the
Smartphone. Facebook is already the most popular applications within the elderly people
as it helps to connect the old friends.
 The elderly people are generally wealthier than the other generations and it helped to
increase the rate of buying the Smartphones within the elderly people.
 Another reason of the popularity of the Smartphones is to be handed-down the phones by
the children.
 The payments applications of the Smartphones have made the payment and the
transactions easier for the elderly people.
 The large screens of the Smartphones have made the view of the Smartphones more
convenient to the elderly people and the louder speakers helped the people to listen in a
clearer way.
 The facial recognition feature of Smartphones has helped to unlock the screen and pick
up the phone by only looking at it. The elderly people generally do not prefer to fiddle
with the keys with the glasses on. The features made the process easier for the elderly
people.

From the above table the pros and cons of expanding the business in Kingston can be seen. From
