Professional Assignment 1
In the business world, MIS (management information system) is a business function just
like sales or accounting that helps in the delivery of information about business people, products,
services, and other processes across the entire company (Laudon & Laudon, 2016). This delivery
of this vital information enhances problem-solving and the decision-making processes, which are
among the most crucial activities which happen in any organizations. A business-driven MIS is a
modern business with MIS which has incorporated all the necessary features and technology to
enable the business to meet the modern standards and thus compete favorably with the other
businesses in the global market. Having said this, it’s evident that MIS is very crucial in any
business as it enhances the processes of problem-solving and decision making which are some of
the most important processes that help any business to excel. Therefore, it’s highly
recommended that all the businesses should strive to have MIS in their operations for them to
enjoy the many benefits which are associated with this system.
A value driven business is a business which mainly focusses on the value or the worth of
goods or services it offers where it aims at offering highly valuable goods or services at the
lowest possible costs (Verbeke, Baesens, & Bravo, 2017). Its production costs is one of the main
factors that it considers where it tries to reduce the production costs as much as possible for it to
offer highly valuable products or services at low prices. To achieve this major aim, these kinds of
businesses always employ cheap but modern technology, outsources the costly functions or
services to other companies, seek to get the cheapest raw materials in the market, among many
other effective strategies which can help them to produce highly valuable products and services
at relatively low prices. Most of the value-driven businesses have really thrived in the global
market as they manage to win the trust of their customers by offering high-quality products and

services at relatively lower prices than their competitors. The strategy of operation of the value-
driven businesses has made many other businesses to follow their route where they are always
seeking to impress and satisfy their customers by offering cheap but high-quality and valuable
products and services. An example of the value-driven businesses in Amazon, which is one of
the companies that are doing very well in the global market. Amazon offers relatively cheap but
high-quality and highly valuable goods and services to their customers, and this has enabled it to
thrive to be one of the best-performing sales companies in the whole world (Kristensen et al.,
2017).
E-Business is a business or an organization that does most of its transactions online or
through the internet, and so, mainly relies on online customers (Benitez et al., 2018). Normally,
e-businesses advertise their products or services online where the potential and interested
customers can view the products and services and make any necessary inquiries or purchases. In
most cases, the prices of the products or services offered by such companies are always indicated
online with rare chances of negotiations. After the customers view the products they want to
purchase, they can communicate with the sellers online and make any necessary inquiries about
the products and then organize how the products will be delivered to their premises. E-businesses
have been doing very well in the modern world as the selling companies can communicate with
millions of customers from different corners of the world and deliver the products via different
means of transport that are convenient to the buyers or customers. An example of e-business is
Alibaba Group Holding, which is based in China but sells and delivers its products to millions of
its customers in many regions of the world (Romagnoli & Garbelli, 2017). This e-business is
very successful and has managed to get many loyal customers in almost all the continents of the
world.

Information security is the practice or the state of data or information being protected
from unauthorized access or exposure which may put the data or information at great risk
(Soomro, Shah, & Ahmed, 2016). Organizations deal with different types of data and
information, and some of these data and information are always private or confidential and must
be kept safe not to be accessed by all the people. To achieve this, organizations need to have a
strong information security system being run by an IT expert who will help in making sure the
private and confidential data or information is kept safe enough not to be accessed by
unauthorized people in or out of the organizations. There are some crucial data and information
whose leakage to an authorized people can lead to a great loss in the organization, and so,
organizations must always be keen enough to make sure such data or information does not leak.
The privacy and security of data and information in any organization depends on the information
security system used by organizations, and so, all the organizations must always make sure they
have the best and the strongest information security systems which will protect their data
accordingly.
Business-driven MIS, value-driven business, e-business, and information security relate
to each other. For any business or organization to excel, it needs to have all these elements or
strategies which are closely related and work together. Firstly, any business will need a
management information system (MIS) to help in the delivery of different data and information
within the business. It will also need a strong information security system which will help it in
keeping its private data and information safe and not accessible to unauthorized people.
Therefore, MIS and information security are very closely related as they all deal with the
delivery and safety of data and information within the organization. Value-driven business and e-
business strategies concentrate on maximizing the sales and the returns of businesses where

value-driven business strategy mainly deals with embracing the best strategies which will help
the business to produce cheap but high-quality and valuable products while e-business mainly
deals with advertising or marketing different products and services online to get many customers
from different regions of the world. All these four business strategies are always aimed at
helping to improve the overall performance of businesses.
