Experience Description
Torren University Australia manages wide amount of student. Therefore there is a need
of new student record management system that will be capable of storing all the essential details.
The new record management system will be capable of organizing and managing the data for all
the enrolled student, stars and courses associated with them. It is expected that the new system
will allow the staff to add update and delete the records of the students based on their data. In
this assessment the main concern was to develop a proper information system that will store the
details of the student within the Torrens University. The university needs a new record
management system for improving the overall performance of the college. This will also
facilitate the students with proper access towards their data. With the help of database is
knowledge it became easy to develop the information system. In this paper we have focused on
developing different tables for different entities so that it becomes easy to store the details. The
tables that I created includes department, employees, salary. All the tables are being filled with
sufficient amount of data so that it becomes easy to display the essential requirements. This
assessment has helped me in obtaining knowledge about the way database are developed. Every
entity in the SQL is being populated with certain amount of data. In addition to these we have
also performed altar function, no selection function, add function for understanding the different
anomalies. Thus it can be stated that with proper knowledge of database which will become easy
to organize the data. Moreover with the help of new record management system it will become
easy to organize the data. Thus the above details related to the assessment will help in
understanding the activities that are carried out for designing the new system. The SQL
statements are designed effectively for the purpose of understanding the different components.

The student record management system is very important for the university because large
number of students takes admission in the university and the university needs to manage the
records of the students. The record of the students include students enrolled, courses in which the
students are enrolled and the staff those are facilitating the courses. The Torrens University has a
very strong system of information and the in-house students will develop the management
system for the university.
Managing the record of the student’s needs planning and management of time and
therefore the system those are automated is a necessity for the university. There are significant
advantages of the student record management system for the university. The advantages include:
 Smart management of data of student
 Avid the performance of the student
 Simplify and streamline everyday tasks
 It upgrades the communication between the students and the teachers
 Increased security of data
 Report management
 Simplified procedure of admission.
The system will permit the staff of the university to add, update and then delete the student
records, staffs those are assigned to the various courses and the courses of the students. The
staffs of the university should be able to view the list of the students that have enrolled in a
specific course that is facilitated by a specific facilitator.
The experience of creating the database for the students is very good and it was very
enjoyable when creating the databases of the students. The main activity includes creation of the

Entity Relationship Diagram. The entity relationship diagram consists of the name of student,
course, subject and the name of the facilitator. There are four versions of the excel sheets those
are done. It includes version 1, version 2, version 3 and version 4. In the version 1 excel sheet all
the possible database objects and the attributes and 30 rows of data are created. In the version 2
of the excel sheet last 2 records of the students are updated and 5 additional records of the
students are added. In the version 3 of the excel sheet 2 new attributes are added and in the
version 4 of the excel sheet, 5 existing attributes are removed and 5 more rows of data are added.
Separate records of the students become a student record system when they are associated
with each other or they are made accessible in order to execute critical functions. These
functionalities may include generation of reports, addition, deletion, changing the records and
conduction of analysis. In order to upgrade the efficiency and the usefulness of the data various
universities have entered their records of the students into the databases those are automated. The
systems those are automated use computer technology and they provide benefits over the
traditional paper systems. However, most of the systems those are computerized still depend on
the records at different stages within the system.
The student record management system will be developed by the in-house developers of
the university and it is very important for the university to maintain the student record
management system. There are large number of students in the Torrens University and the so the
system needs a database where the details of the students and the details of the course are
mentioned so that it is easier for the administration of the University to manage the students and
the courses of the students. The students of the university will provide consultation and the
students will help to develop the system and the database for the Torrens University.

There are various functional and non-functional requirements of the record management system.
The functional requirements of the system include:
 Allow the admin to send emails
 The systems will process and then print the transcripts of the students
 The system will include all the personal details of the students
The non-functional requirement of the system includes the following:
 The system must authenticate and then validate all the input the user and the users of the
system must be notified in case of any errors those are detected in the course
 The system only permits the admin in order to delete the records in the database, the system
should permit room of the expansion.
Critique of another student’s work
The report of the student has been done appropriately and it has been done according to the
requirements that are provided. The spreadsheets are also done properly you. The first task was
to illustrate the entity relationship diagram. The entity relationship diagram is properly done and
the four entities are properly described. The entities include student, course, subject and the
learning facilitator. The second task was to create the version 1 excel sheet. Four tables have
been created appropriately in excel. The tables include the table of students, table of course, and
subject table and the table of the learning facilitator. The table is successfully created by you and
then you have added the attributes appropriately in the table. The attributes include the Student
ID, Name and many more. The attributes are created properly for all the tables that have been
created by you. The second task was to create the version 2 excel sheet. The task of the version 2

sheet was to update the last two rows and adding five new additional rows. The table is created
appropriately by you and there are no errors in creation of the table and the attributes. You have
updated the mobile number of the students and other change has been made in the table that was
created by you. The version 2 excel sheet is done properly and does not have any errors. The
next task is to do the version 3 excel sheet. The task was to add 2 new attributes and in each of
the tables. The addition of the table has been done properly and there are no errors in updating
the database. In the student table you have added city and the postcode successfully, in the
course table you have added online and on campus appropriately and in the other table both
online and on campus have been added successfully you and the task is done successfully
without any errors. The next task was to do the version 4 excel sheet. The task was to delete the 5
attributes from the table of students. The task is accomplished successfully by you. The attributes
that have been successfully deleted include the personal details of the students and it includes
phone number of the student, the date of birth of the student, sate, city and the postcode. All the
tasks have been done successfully by you and there are no mistakes of executing the 4 versions
of the excel sheets and the Entity Relationship Diagram. However, there are few mistakes in the
grammar in the report that is written by you and overall the report is alright. It is seen in the
report that you had a problem in updating and deleting the records of the students but you have
done that successfully and the task is accomplished by you successfully. You have also said that
the task can be done very easily if it was done on SQL. Overall you have done the record
deletion and updating successfully and I think you have also enjoyed while doing the excel
sheets and the entity relationship diagram.
