Purpose of the research
This research is intended to present a comprehensive overview of data protection
mechanisms in big data analytics. We also seek to explore the challenges for the current security
mechanisms in big data analytics. This will be achieved by an inclusive illustration of the big
data infrastructure as well as the present privacy protection approaches in the big data analytics.
Furthermore, the paper will document the challenges associated with the current security within
the system.
Background of the study
In the recent decades, a considerable growth of data have been experienced in almost
every industry. Furthermore, the recent technological innovation has boosted the amount of data
generated over the internet. The massive data generated over the internet in various formats at a
higher speed with the aid of the current technology is what is referred to as big data [1]. The big
data has become a topic of concern over the past few years. The rate at which these data are
generated is rapidly growing that it is challenging to manage with the traditional approaches.
This is exemplified by the cyber-attack that has increased in the recent times. To this end, we are
motivated to explore this critical aspect and find out new ways for privacy protection to ensure
the safety in big data analytics.
Methodology
The research will be primarily based on secondary data along with primary data. For
literature, we will utilize various sources including EndNote, google scholar and IEEE and ACM
libraries.

Expected results
The analysis is expected to demonstrate some inefficiencies in the traditional data
protection for the big data analytics that is exploited by cyber criminals. It is also anticipated that
the findings of the study are viable and can be used to take an initiative into solving the existing
