Report
AI Summary
This report provides a detailed comparison of MySQL and Oracle databases. It begins by outlining the features and uses of each database, including MySQL's open-source nature, support for various operating systems, and focus on ease of use, along with Oracle's scalability, manageability, and high availability. The report then delves into how the tools and techniques of each database can improve productivity, accuracy, and usability, emphasizing the importance of understanding MySQL's features and deployment strategies, as well as Oracle's advanced features for large-scale data management. Finally, the report examines the strengths and weaknesses of each database, highlighting MySQL's open-source advantage and Oracle's suitability for large databases, while also noting MySQL's limitations in debugging tools and Oracle's proprietary nature. This comparative analysis aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the two leading database systems.

Task 1
a) In a report, write a short description of the use and features of databases in two
different organisations. (P1)
Ans:
List of MySQL features:
1. MySQL is relational database management system (RDBMS).
2. MySQL can used easily by implementing some simple SQL statements.
3. This database is secure because it provides solid data security layer. MySQL kept
encrypted password.
4. MySQL is an open source software. User can freely download it form the internet and use
it.
5. MySQL is scalable database.
6. MySQL is compatible with many Operating systems, like Windows, Linux, UNIX, OS/2,
FreeBSD and others.
7. In this database we can rolled back, commit and can do crash recovery.
8. High Performance.
9. MySQL provides higher flexibility, it supports various embedded applications.
Use of MySQL:
MySQL is used for quick processing, proven reliability, ease and flexibility. MySQL is very
important part of most of the open source PHP applications.
Oracle Features:
1. Scalability and Performance: Concurrency, Read Consistency, Locking Mechanisms, Quiesce
Database, RAC, Portability
2. Manageability: Self managing database, OEM, SQL*Plus, ASM, Scheduler, Resource
Manager
3. Backup and Recovery
4. High availability
5. Business Intelligence: Data Warehousing, ETL, Materialized views, Bitmap indexes, Table
compression, Parallel Execution, Analytic SQL, OLAP, Data mining, Partitioning
6. Content Management: XML, LOB, Oracle Text, Oracle Ultra Search, Oracle intermedia,
Oracle Spatial
7. Information Integration Features: Distributes SQL, Oracle Streams

b) Explain how the tools/techniques of each database could improve productivity,
accuracy and usability. (M1)
Ans: To improve productivity, accuracy and usability MySQL database, it is required to
get good knowledge about MySQL all features and practice that. Tackle bad practice of
development. Try to optimally deployment of database. We should profile all workload,
to follow this we can use MySQL Enterprise Monitor’s query analyzer. This tools capture
all system queries which server executes and then it return a table of different tasks,
these tasks are sorted by decreasing order in respect of response time and it put most
time consuming tasks over all the less required task so that we can keep up effort on
this task.
To increase productivity, we have to update higher user effectiveness by implementing
various learning methods. To increase accuracy in oracle, we need to upgrade our
knowledge that will help to competent with conceptual based assessments.

Task 2
Q) In a new section within the report, look at each database in more detail and consider the
strengths and weaknesses of each. Discuss at least one strength and one weakness for each
database (D1)
Ans: MySQL Strength: MySQL is an open source means it is freely available on internet,
anyone can download it and use it. MySQL is supports many operating systems.
MySQL Weakness:
MySQL does not have a good developing and debugging tools in comparison of paid database.
MySQL does not support SQL check constraints are not supported by MySQL.
Oracle Strength: Oracle is very useful when there is need to manage large databases.
Oracle Weakness: Oracle is not an open source.
