AI Summary
This assignment solution focuses on the design of a relational database for CQUnited Property Management. The student has developed an Entity Relationship (ER) diagram to represent the conceptual data model, incorporating entities such as Property, Customer, Property_Manager, Maintenance, Employees and Booking, along with their respective attributes. The solution includes assumptions and business rules that guided the database design, addressing aspects like employee usage, data input, customer registration, and property management responsibilities. The logical design is presented, outlining the database schema with table structures, including attributes like Property_ID, Customer_ID, Address, and various other details relevant to property management, customer information, employee details, and booking information. The provided bibliography lists relevant database systems resources. This assignment provides a practical application of database design principles within the context of a property management system.

2. Assumptions and Business Rules
For the development of the conceptual data model an analysis is needed to be made on
the business case of CQUnited Property Management. The following assumptions are made for
the preparation of the logical design of the database and listed below:
The employees working in the organization are capable of using the information system
and would efficiently use the information system.

Relevant data would be inputted in the database of the CQUnited property management
database system regarding property, customer, staffs and rental activities.
The customer needs to register with the information system and the details of the
customer is stored in the database, thus it is assumed that the relevant information would
be provided by the customer.
The property manager is responsible for management of the application and allocation of
property for rent.
The details of the external employees are assumed to be inputted by them such and they
would be able to manage the information for increasing the efficiency of the system.
For the development of the CQUnited Property Management system the following business rules
are needed to be maintained and are given below:
The property details are needed to be available in the database and it is needed to be
inputted by the owner of the property.
A property manager is needed to be assigned to each of the property for management of
the applications from the customers.
The property manager would have access to the details of the records for other employees
and would be able to manage the details of the other employees.
The maintenance details of each of the property is needed to be recorded such that a
reminder can be generated for the repair jobs that are needed to be done on the property.
The details of the external employees are needed to be maintained such that their details
can be generated for management of urgent maintenance service.

3. Logical Design
For the development of CQUnited Property Management database system a logical
design of the database is created form the entity relationship diagram and given below:
Property (Property_ID, Customer_ID, Property_Type, Address, Bathroom, Bedroom,
Weekly_Rentals, Photos, Availability, Owner_Details)
Property_Manager (Emp_ID, Booking_ID, status, Feedback)
Maintenance (Maintenance_ID, Property_ID, Emp_ID, JobTitle, Status, Date)
Customer (Customer_ID, Customer_FirstName, Customer_LastName, Street, Suburb,
State, Postcode, Email)
Employees (Emp_ID, Emp_JobTitle, Emp_FirstName, Emp_LastName,
Emp_PhoneNumber, Working_Location)
Booking (Booking_ID, Property_ID, Customer_ID, Application, Date_Booked)
