AI Summary
This document presents a comprehensive solution to a database design assignment for the QRentals car rental system. The assignment focuses on developing an Entity Relationship (ER) diagram to model the database's conceptual schema. The solution includes an ER diagram, assumptions, and business rules that guide the design process. The assumptions cover customer documentation, employee assignments, database administrator responsibilities, and insurance policies. The business rules address car categorization, rental cost recording, system processing time, and the importance of detailed data recording for business improvement. The document also provides a bibliography of relevant academic sources used in the development of the database design.

ER Diagram
Assumptions and Business rules
The following assumptions are made for the development of the ER Diagram.
The customers have all the necessary document and the licence that is required
for booking the car from the QR Rental system.
It is also assumed that more than one employee is assigned to a car for the
management of the service and delivery of the car to the customer who have
booked the car for rental.

DATABASE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
It is assumed that the database administrator would add the details of the
customer and the employee accurately in the database table for the
management of the errors in the database.
It is assumed that each of the car is insured with an insurance policy and the
information system is used for recording the details of the insurance for
reducing the effort of management.
The business rules identified for the development of the information system are listed
below:
Categorizing the cars into different segments such as SUV, Sedan, Luxury
limos, etc. and the location of the parking of the car should be recorded into
the information system for increasing the security of the cars.
The cost of hiring the cars should also be recorded for the calculation of the
rental cost.
The processing time of each of the request of the customer or the employee
using the system should be minimum and the database tables should be
connected with each other using the foreign key such that the accurate result
of the query can be generated.
All the details of the cars, employees and the customers should be recorded in
the database such that it can be used by the organization to improve the current
business process.
