Report
AI Summary
This assignment report delves into the realm of database systems, commencing with a historical overview and an exploration of the evolution of database technologies. The report then transitions into data modeling, specifically focusing on the creation of an Entity-Relationship Diagram (ERD) in Crow's Foot notation. The ERD is designed to represent the operations of a hypothetical spa company, Hot Water (HW). The report covers the company's interactions with manufacturers, brands, and sales. It also touches upon the current and future database technologies, with specific emphasis on the NoSQL databases and their benefits. The report is structured to fulfill the assignment requirements by incorporating research and data modeling to provide a comprehensive understanding of database systems.

DATABASE DEVELOPMENT
Part A: Database research
The definition of the word data has been derived from the word datum, which means
giving. Data is either a fact, an event and a piece of information. Data is used to represent these
facts or information. In addition to this, the storage process of data is known as the database
management system. The history of databases goes back to the development of the libraries. The
records of the system are stored in the system in the recent developments.
The use of the records was done even before the computers were invented and the
collection of the data are termed are database in the recent development. The concept of data was
defined way back in the year 2003.
In and around year 2007 the relationship in between the data was defined and the
relational database concepts were further investigated. The structures which are internal for an
operating database fixed basically in the row directions. The users would be provided with the
logical views only and the internal structures of the database would be unknown to them.
The latest developments in the field of information technology is NoSQL. The NoSQL
features have been developed with the open source programming. The development was done for
the non-relation database containing distributed data stores which did not provide the ACID
properties to the users. The development would be helpful for the mitigation of the challenges
that were faced with the traditional RDBMS which were prevalent earlier.
