Part 2: ASSESSING NEEDS
1. What need(s) are you addressing?
Our organization aims at addressing the needs of those children and adults
who are orphan; poor; disabled; addicted to drugs or all of them. The needs of
such children could be:
Need for food, water, and shelter, including healthy and safe living
conditions.
Need for protection of basic fundamental rights like the right to life, right to
education, etc.
Need to live their life with respect, equality, and dignity.
Need for proper health and early childhood educational facilities.
Need for protection from mental, physical or sexual harassment.
Need for rehabilitation and proper counseling.
Need for protection from child labor and trafficking.
2. How do you know and why are you passionate about it?
According to a recent report of the National Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), there were around 68 child deaths in the last 5
years due to assault or undetermined intent (NSPCC, 2019). Some reports
also show that over 4.5 million children in the UK are living in poverty where
they do not have equal opportunities and protection like other children (Patrick
Butler, 2018). Not only this, there are around 800,000 children who are
disabled and are below the age of 16 (DLF, 2017).
These statistics are not just numbers; it is the suffering and pain of those
children who need love and care from society. These numbers motivate our
organization to serve these underprivileged children and guiding them
towards a better way of life so that they can live their life with integrity and
dignity and contribute to our society. Our organization is completely dedicated
to fulfilling the basic needs of these children and strives towards improvising
such conditions prevailing in the society as a whole.
