The issues am interested in are: unconditional basic income and media.
Unconditional basic income
Introduction
This is an issue with a long history advocating for people to be entitled to
unrestricted basic salary without necessarily working for it.
The issues are:
1. Does one have to work to earn?
2. Does a person have the right to be lazy?
3. What are the challenges likely to be faced when implementing UBI?
4. What would be appropriate way of improving people living standards?
Issue: Does one have to work to earn?
Position on the issue
It would be much prudent if someone works for them to earn rather than just idling
knowing that they are entitled to basic salary, this would result to a major setback in the
economic growth because many people may stop working.
There have been both proponents and critiques of this idea as some claim that the
human faction is not having full freedom when a few control resources and only let them out
in exchange of work done while others argue that no one has a right to be lazy (Parijs, 1992).

In conclusion of this matter, I would agree that there should be unconditional basic
income so as to uphold the dignity of all human beings but looking at the effects and
challenges it would not be a wiser choice for any state. Though there are states that are
already developed and can manage this kind of system, for the third world countries it would
be a big failure.
Media
Introduction
The media has been severally accused as a tool of misleading people and not
sticking to their duty of reporting of government negative issues mainly owing to conflict
of interest.
The issues are:
1. What actions should be taken against the media where they act
inappropriately?
2. Is the media performing its duties professionally?
3. Is the media liable for wrong actions of its employees?
4. Are the laws regulating media proficient?
Issue: are the laws regulating media proficient?
Position on issue:
The laws on media have not been reviewed lately to capture the rapid changes
taking place in the media sector hence there is no enough penalties to refrain the media

from their wrong doings (Christen, 2012). Therefore the law should be amended to
include more deterrent laws to discourage the media from acing unprofessionally.
Conclusively it would be proper if all media outlets had their independent bodies
that ensures that they are accountable for their action and acts on media laws can be
amended to include stricter measures that would refrain the media personnel from acting
wrongfully.
