Decision making and problem-solving
To take correct decisions and also to solve the problem is one of the important factors for
every organization. If the company does not take proper decisions and the problems are also not
solved then it is difficult to conduct the activities. These are considered as an important aspect
that helps to manage the activities in a proper manner.
Problem-solving is considered as an important mental process that requires good skills to
sort out the problems. Decision making is known as a mental process that helps to find out
various alternatives before taking a final decision. It can be evaluated that in the process of
decision making the first step is related to defining the issue (Bardach and Patashnik, 2015).
The top-level management or the managers should focus on defining the issue which is
based on the objectives which are planned for what is right and what is wrong. Once the problem
is stated, then it can be easy to determine the importance of the problem. This is the point now,
on which the management should give emphasis that how problems are enhanced and also to
evaluate the need for the resources which are necessary to solve the issue. It is analyzed that
when the issue is identified then it can be easy to identify the solutions (Neubert et al., 2015).
When the advantage and disadvantage of the problem are analyzed then it can be easy to
select the best alternative for the problem. When the solution is identified then management
should focus on implementing it and then also if it is not solved then a company has to focus on
some other alternative. When problem-solving is complex then it can be analyzed that more
focus is given to decision making (Beach, 2014).
It can be analyzed that without proper decisions it is not possible for the company to
survive in the competitive environment. The company focuses on taking decisions which are
correct so that large market share can be grabbed. Wrong decisions can give negative impact on
the working pattern of the employees and right decisions can help to achieve growth in the
market. So, it is important to take right decisions so that activities of the company can be
conducted in a right manner (Dane and Sonenshein, 2015).
It is evaluated that in a day to day activities of the business the company has to face many
problems and it requires a right skill to solve that issues with the help of management and

employees in order to reduce the problem (Certo, 2018). There are various examples that are
related to the problem-solving in the workplace which will help to reduce the work-related
problems. One of the examples is brainstorming that help to collect new ideas in the workplace.
Management and the workers of the company come together and start discussing the ideas. From
various ideas, the best ideas are taken into consideration so that solution can be generated
effectively. It is one of the effective techniques taken into consideration by the company so that
new ideas can be generated and also problems can be solved easily. In this technique, the
managers try to maintain peace and harmony so that working structure of the company can be
maintained for the employees (Sternberg and Frensch, 2014).
Next is related to the delegation in which it is seen that each employee of the group has
its own responsibilities in context with the activities of the company. The responsibilities which
are given to the employees are based on the experience and qualification so that at the right job
right candidate can be assigned. It is seen that workplace problem solving can be reduced if a
proper delegation of responsibilities is given and also it helps the employee and manager to
contribute towards the overall activities of the company. If delegations of the activities are done
in a proper manner then it will help to enhance the productivity and also the efficiency of the
team (Savery, 2015).
Next example is related with committees in which it is evaluated that the working groups
of the employee in the company are responsible for solving out the issues which arise at the time
of conducting the activities (Wittmer, 2016). for instance: if the department of logistic is facing
issue with the company then the committee should design to sort out that issue so that solution
can be taken out in a proper manner. It will also help to accomplish goals and objectives in an
effective manner. So, it is important to take right decisions so that problems and issues can be
reduced and also the company can conduct the activities with proper care. It will also help to
enhance the level of profitability of the company.
