Part A
Decision Support System: It is the system which is based on the software which helps the
managers to make decisions by accessing the information for generating several information
systems. This information is involved in the business process of an organization such as
transaction processing, automation system and many more.
With the use of analytical models, the DSS uses rapid information, patterns, trends, and patterns.
This system helps in making decisions but it does not important that it will provide the decision
itself. The team of making decisions will compile the information from the documents, personal
knowledge, raw data, and the business models for identifying and solving the problems and
decision makings (Guo, et al., 2015).
Decision Support System is of two types – Programmed and the non-programmed decision.
Programmed Decision: These decisions are generally the routine work, an automated
process where:
Decisions will follow some rules or guidelines.
Decisions will take several times.
Example: Selecting the reorder inventory level is called a programmed decision.
Non-Programmed Decision: It will occur in the non-addressed and unusual situations, so:
There are no rules or guidelines to follow.
The decision was depending on the instinct, perception, discretion of the manager, and
the judgment.
If the information is available then only the decisions will be made.
Example: Investment in the new technologies is called as non-programmed decisions.
DSS involves non-programmed decisions. Consequently, there is no exact content, format or the
report for the designed system.
The decision support system is the appropriate tool for the project which has some benefits such
as:
- It improves the speed and efficiency of the activities of making decisions.
- It increases the capability, competitiveness and the control for making decisions.
- It encourages training and learnings.
- It facilitates the interpersonal communications.
- It helps to automate the managerial process.

Decision support system provides support in making decisions related to the management and
the business for data utilization. The data utilization is related to the organizational benefits and
their sales. It also helps to visualize the data or the information for analyzing the futuristic results
and also produce them. There are some facts and statistics which is used by this support system
to make decisions (Laudon, 2016).
In the given scenario, this support system is the appropriate tool for making decisions in the
business for trading and sales of the products. These decisions were made in the form of stats and
the numbers which provides the advantage to an organization. With the help of gathered
information, the statistics of making decisions are efficiently managed as well as analyzed by
this support system. Regarding the instrument sale, the data or the information were gathered
with the prices which are relevant for selling and trading of resources. It is handled and managed
by the DSS for ensuring the surety and quality of making decisions which were taken with the
respect of company statistics.
Mark Up: It refers to the values used for adding the cost of the products. The product’s cost
price which is equal to the retail price. It is the part of the amount which is added by the retailer
in the goods for finding profits while selling to the customers. The formula for finding the Mark
Up values is:
Mark-Up = 100 * (Sales Price – Unit Costing)
There are several types of markups were available in the business for storing the markup type.
The markup is of many types such as:
- Punctuational: It includes the commas, semicolons, and the dashes.
- Presentational: It includes the vertical and horizontal spacing that is an indentation, dual-line
spacing, and the page breaks.
Freight: It is referred to as cost used for changing goods & services & the cost of transportation
in business. It provides the opportunity in which customer will get profits by falling in selling
price and the sale quantity which increase the earnings in the business (Chang, 2016).
It is so necessary for checking the factors for choosing the best-suited country including the taxes
and the import and export of instrument with its price. The appropriate or the best-suited country
is Melbourne which varies to the import and export prices of the product.
