The Migration Act 1958 is the act that has been passed by the parliament of Australia
which helps in governing immigration within Australia. It has formed Australia’s universal visa
system. Further the act is mainly focused over making people who are not citizens to Australia
providing they permit to sleep (Pascoe, 2021). The act has been amended in the year 1901 that

process applying to persons held in immigration detention and does not require any specific
order to be made. (Section 198) It covers those persons who do not have a valid visa to be in
Australia, whether their valid visa has expired or was cancelled.
