1GEOGRAPHY ASSIGNMENT
As the primary concern of the world in this age of the globalisation is to preserve the
wildlife, control the rate of climate change and meet the basic fundamental need of humans,
deforestation is still present as the primal issue for the world (Ahmed & Glaser 2016). As per
Reis and Guzmán (2015), humans cut 15 billion trees every day, which exerts ecological
political, economic aspect of life. This section will discuss the economic aspect of deforestation
that affects our life directly.
There are several impacts of deforestation that affects our life directly. As per Ahmed and
Glaser (2016), trees are associated with the water cycle that helps to maintain and conserve the
ground water level, provides adequate rain and control temperature in majority of the areas
around the world. Further, several countries and their tourism depends on the rainforest and
hence, deforestation could hamper their primary source of economic income. Besides that,
majority of the animals living in the rainforests are now on the verge of extinction, due to which
economy of several countries are decreasing due to which costs to preserve them and
reintroduction of their species costs the nation (Ahmed & Glaser 2016). Further, less rain and
increasing global temperature causes draughts or floods due to which the economy related to
farming and food products are severely affected. However, deforestation could also impact the
economy by exerting positive impacts as Butsic et al. (2015) mentions that, several natural
resources such as palm oil, fruits, wood and other important goods are collected from
deforestation, depending on which multiple nations control their economic influx and reflux.
