abortion and to get rid of wasting nearly $500 million in the federal funding received by PPFA
annually. This article presents debate in favour of defunding the Planned Parenthood which has
been presented with a plethora of facts and arguments and follows Monroe’s Motivated
Sequence.

 Various videos have been encountered depicting the harvesting and selling of body
parts from aborted unborn children by the nation’s largest abortion provider that is
affiliated by the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
 This has led to a great debate on defunding the Planned Parenthood.

 The emergence of such videos have raised severe questions like illegally selling the
fetal body parts and tissues and future federal funding of Planned Parenthood.
 The case of defunding the Planned Parenthood has been pending in the Senate and
U.S. House of Representatives.

 According to the statistics, Planned Parenthood affiliates have performed over 327,000
abortions during 2013-2014.

 During the same duration $127 million in revenue over the expenses were reported by the
national organization holding over $1.4 billion in net assets and performed 327,653
abortions.
 The federation has further been accused of financial fraud. A settlement of $4 million
were paid by the affiliate for Medicaid fraud in 2013.

 Planned Parenthood has been affiliating serious allegations regarding making profits
from organs of aborted babies and similar disturbing conduct.
 The federation emphasizes more on abortions rather than preventive care and is
responsible for one out of three abortions in the United States.
 Planned Parenthood has been jeopardizing the safety and health of young women and
even abets the sex trafficking of girls.

 Defunding the PPFA: The Planned Parenthood is not a considerable primary care
provider in general and even fails to provide mammograms. The congress must end
taxpayer funding of PPFA and use these funds in more effective and efficient methods.
 Focusing on other health care centres: These health care centres are seen to provide
prenatal care, medical testing, child-birth classes and ultrasounds among other services
towards women who face unplanned pregnancies.
 Disqualification of the national organization: The national organization must be
disqualified by the Congress from receiving from receiving reimbursements from federal

Medicaid and grants under specific family planning programs. The funding sources must
be addressed by Congress during appropriation processes.

support owing to the millions of profits being made by the federation.
 Further the issues of increased abortion since last decade and lowering of other
preventive measures, cases of sexual abuse and sex trafficking has resulted in the
creating problems in the continued funding of the federation.
