SWOT Analysis of Dell Technologies
Strengths
Dell has strong brand name as global IT and PC organization. Focus of Dell on
innovation and quality are major reasons for its popularity. Dell maintained huge product
portfolio which contributed in growing through the fresh acquisitions. Dell is innovative brand
which invests within innovation for product line’s continuous expansion (Larsen, 2017).
Weaknesses
Dell’s operating expenses have grown quite high that resulted in losses of operation for
past few years. Dell is too much dependent upon Michael Dell to take decision who is both
company’s largest stockholder as well as CEO of the company. Dell is not highly differentiated
organization. Dell found it tough in getting out of comfort zone while exploring business’s new
areas.
Opportunities
Dell could use differentiation in quicker expansion and growth of their business. It could
venture in new areas as well as invest in new technologies’ development. Higher differentiation
must be tried by Dell for creating distinct image of the company. Competition of high level is
faced by it within world market as there are several substitutes for most of products of it.
Threats
Competition level in industry of PC grew quite high. Heavy competition is faced by Dell
from the other brands such as Acer, Asus, Apple, Lenovo and Hp. It increased expenditure on
innovation and research along with marketing (Nilsen, 2017). Dell does not invest much over

promotions. PC market declined fast due to mobile computing’s rise. Level of political and legal
regulation within industry of PC has grown quite high as well.
