The report will discuss the key issues that have been identified to be considering by Deloitte
related to the sustainability and CSR. Deloitte Company is considered to be one of the Big Four
professional service network and accounting organization across the globe. One of the major
issues that will be focus in the report is water management issues of water scarcity, for which the
company would be focusing towards finding sustainable solution for this issue.
The solution recommended include new water risk management, reflects that the issue identified
as per UN SDG’s, and sustainable goal as a solution for Deloitte is Goal 12 that is “Responsible
Consumption and Production.” it is recommended to increase the awareness regarding the water

Deloitte Company is considered to be one of the Big Four professional service network and
accounting organization across the globe while considered the number of professional associated
by the company and revenue of the company. The company headquarters at United States, New
York, and the company is operating the professional service network across the globe. There are
various responsibilities towards which the company needs to work and consider through its
sustainable development goals and corporate social responsibility. The report will discuss the
key issues that have been identified to be considering by Deloitte related to the sustainability and
CSR.

Sustainability issues
Deloitte has considered various goals pertaining to environment, employees, customer and
society. For instance some of the sustainability goals and initiatives by the company approaching
to environmental sustainability include reduction of the environmental impacts of the company
towards people and the delivery of the service by the company, thus the company is not only
considering environmental concern, it has also encourage the people associate with the company
(deloitte, 2019).
Water consumption issue
The key issue as per the press release provided by the insights for C Suite and CFOs, which
provide the role of the company that needs to be consider. Moreover it has been identified that
there are various issues which have been considered to be focus by regulators, investors, media,
organization, and the activists (deloitte, 2019). The survey reflect that key sustainability issues
include bringing digital to the life, innovation barriers, future of work which include considering
talent management in today’s digital life. One of the major issues that will be focus in the report
is water management issues of water scarcity, for which the company would be focusing towards
finding sustainable solution for this issue. As per the data analyzed from the sustainability report
from Deloitte, water scarcity is one of the major issues that have shown current trend that is
reflecting the operational efficiency, and change in demographics that are also resulted because
of major climate change (deloitte, 2019). As per OECD the demand for the water has found to be
increase in near future and the trend has reflected to increase since years. The major reason is
increase in total population, which is expected to reach by 9.7 billion by 2050. This reflects
water scarcity as one of the major issue that the next generation may face. Other than this, the

increase in global warming issue is also reflecting the water scarcity issue. Moreover the trend
through urbanization has increase the cause for the issue identified, as the lifestyle changes has
reflected increase in use of water like use of water purifiers has increase the waste water, latest
home appliances has led to increase in maximum use of water (deloitte, 2019).
However these acute ware scarce reasons could become very large due to increase in population,
which has reflect increase in demand and with the decrease in supply, which is reflect that the
earth may be facing supply shortage by 40 percent by 2030. Moreover the water leakage in
various nations has shown the issue in infrastructure like in case of Europe, which has also,
reflect wastage of water and may lead to water scarcity at major pace. Thus it has been
identified through the report that the major risk considering the water scarcity has introduced to
consider water cycle, demand management, and infrastructure management by the company in
order to sustain.
Solution for the issue identified
Responsible Consumption and Production
The solution recommended include new water risk management, which would include various
models to be implement in order to enhance new water management system. This reflects that
the issue identified as per UN SDG’s, and sustainable goal as a solution for Deloitte is Goal 12
that is “Responsible Consumption and Production.” The company can consider this as the major
social responsibility initiative. It has been identified that only one individual is neither
responsible for the cause and nor for the cure. Thus, it is recommended to increase the awareness
regarding the water scarcity and ways every individual can save water and decrease the water
demand. Initiating by the company, the demand for the water can be change by introducing

innovative and new process planning that will include lesser use of water through the business
activities. There have been various industries which are largely responsible for large water
demand, for example computer chip manufacturer, for which it is important to increase the
awareness (guardian, 2019).
Some of the risk mentions in the graph below reflect that the company need to mitigate the risk
related. This initiative will not only helpful to the environmental benefit but will also help the
company to increase the profitability by managing the risk identified. Among the risk identified,
the company related risk will be considered by the company, as the location related risk if
unpredictable, however may hamper the company performance in that nation.

Water stewardship is another recommendation for the company; this will impact the long term
profit of the corporation. This reflects right quality and right quality of water to fulfill the needs
of ecosystems, business, and people at right time. This will reflect the internal source of water
related use in the business of Deloitte. Commitments towards the shared water resources which
will make the company improve the water use improvement and their impact of value chain
operations (Chung et al., 2015). The company would not only include the program within the
business activities but also promote the external stakeholders by educating them to improve the
water usage. This may involve the major clients of Deloitte which can be providing accounting
service to large corporations across the globe. Thus it can be said that Deloitte can reach to large
corporations at once and rapidly. Other than the customers, the suppliers and the vendors will be
another business partners that may be responsible for increase in water demand and use involve
as part of water consumption in the supply chain of Deloitte. Thus the education to all these
stakeholders and partners other than the internal staff of the company can be part of major
initiative by the company towards the water management techniques and reduction of water
scarcity issue (Kolk, 2016).
