OPM300: Delphi Method Report

This report documents the application of the Delphi method for planning a volleyball event. Delphi Decision Making Process- Round 1
The following questionnaire round will be the first of three rounds of Delphi Decision Making
Process. Once we receive all responses from panelists, we will summarize the findings and
formulate questionnaire for second round. We also assure your participation and responses to all
these questions confidential. Below is a List of Indicators which we find necessary to be in the
Winning Volleyball Sports Team. Please give ratings for each indicators where 1 is considered to
be lowest and 50 as the highest marks. Also kindly provide your suggestion to the following
questions that can guide your assessment basis:
 Are these indicators valuable to guide the winning teams?
 Are these indicators providing necessary information regarding the team that deserves
trophy?

Letter
I am happy to announce that our College is going to host Volley Ball Event-2017 in the month of
July, 2017 when other colleges are also closed for autumn break. The event is being organized by
our college with association of Sports Ministry. Approximately 1000 participants are about to
participate in the event. Selection mode in respect of teams to be selected will be conveyed in a
day or two. You are requested to come forward to cooperate and support the event to make the
event a great success. Venue for the competitions will be the National Stadium. Kindly propose
the line of action and send a team of experts to help us out. It is requested to send the names and
mobile numbers and email address of the concerned officials be sent to us immediately. Your
communication may reach us within this week by mail only. Suggestions in this regard are
welcome.
Responses
Thanks for the mail regarding intimation of gala event. We would be happy to give the support
of our officials. The details as required are being given in the annexure. The following additional
information may also be furnished to our office as early as possible viz. number of total
gathering, names of VIPs, number of vehicles required, booking of guest house for participants
and their escorts etc. etc. We would also like to have a briefing meeting at the first instance.
I received your mail regarding hosting the Sports Event in July this year. You have not
mentioned about the details of Trophy etc. which would be given to the winner. Kindly send the
same. It would be better if you convey a convenient date to meet and discuss the above.
I am in receipt of your mail regarding hosting of Sports Event. As I am out of country, I will
consider and respond you after my return in a few day.

Assignment-Driven Criteria: I can see you did some work on this assignment; however, it is not required
for Delphi method. You should let your participants estimate a question, for example, what is the
probability that Team XXX will win Volleyball Sports. Your participants should propose a probability,
which is a number ranging anywhere between 0% and 100%. Later, at the second round, you will
request them to revise their estimates (i.e. probability) according to others opinions. The SLP writeup
should include two parts: 1) The original Letter to the Participants, explaining the project and requesting
their assistance; 2) the first-round responses from the participants However, I did not see any of them.
