AI Summary
This report examines the business environment, specifically focusing on the demand and supply dynamics related to landfills. It explores the importance of balancing waste and resource management, highlighting the impact of various internal and external factors. The report defines key economic terms like demand and supply within the context of landfill management and analyzes factors influencing the balance, including government policies, consumer habits, urbanization, and population trends. It also considers political, economic, social, technological, and legal factors that impact landfill demand and supply. Furthermore, the report discusses waste disposal options, such as composting, recycling, and landfilling, and touches upon the macroeconomic variables that affect landfill operations. INTRODUCTION
Business environment can be defined as all internal and external factors that influence a
business. This study will cover and show about the importance of maintaining demand and
supply of waste and resources. Law of supply theory help an individual and municipal who has
the responsibility of demand and supply of waste. Demand and supply for land fill is very
important and there are various factors that have impact and influence this balance. Policies and
regulations by government can have positive impact and can help them in maintaining supply
and demand of waste for land fill, Townsend, (2018).
Economic term of demand and supply related to land-fill
Demand and supply:
Demand can be defined as a quantity of product and service which is required and desired
by buyers for fulfilling needs. Supply can be defined as a quantity which are provided by a
company and market. Law of supply is a theory that shows and explains the interaction between
demand of a resource and the supply for that resource.
Selection of sites:
A land fill site is a site for the disposal of garbage dump, rubbish dump & the best waste
treatment. There are various elements of solid waste management system and land fill is one of
the final functional element of them. It is being used as the main important option of waste
disposal, Crawford & Smith, (2016). There are various waste disposal options including
composting, recycling and landfill who is the most appropriate and preferred option as it is easy
to implement and also consume less cost. There are mainly 4 types of waste streams such as
industrial waste, domestic, hospital & commercial waste stream which constitute the total waste
in UK.
Theory:
Demand curve can be defined as a theory of demand in which a graph depict relationship
between the amount or price of a certain commodity and the amount which customers have
willingness to purchase. In developing countries and other countries like UK and in rapid
growing cities, municipal solid waste is becoming a serious problem. Site selection for land fill is
another main concern of urban Government. Old land fill sites are being filled up by them and

now new sites are increasing. To find a suitable and appropriate MSW disposable site which can
meet all the regulations is a costly endeavour.
A sanitary landfill site selection includes evaluation of national use guidelines, location
restriction etc. There are various factors on which demand of land for solid waste management
disposal in landfills depend. Some factors include trends of waste generation, changes in
consumers' habits, urbanisation, future population etc. For solving these factors and issues
municipal and government of UK focusing on using various methods of waste generation
forecasting such as regression models, time series analysis etc.
Factors:
There is very important to manage the wastage at the marketplace in order to balance
between demand and supply of landfills. For that here is analysis the political, economical,
social, technological and legal factors impact on demand and supply landfills. The political
factor are impact to the landfills because of residential construction is one of the main direction
for the government, Qasim, (2017). This development of the strategy because it state that the
development of construction industry and production and production of material. The
economical factor is impact to the landfills and cost to the dispose in the landfills lower than
recycling. It give the negative consumer perception for the materials are made for recycle
aggregates. This impact to the municipal party because of the low landfills tipping fees. This
impact by the stable and responsive market for recycle of wastage.
The social factor are consider the poor knowledge of the wastage recycling or reuse.
There are peoples have not know about the garbage fills land. They are put their wastage
anywhere. There is having the low level of motivation for the wastage as per landfills. This
impact to low level of collaboration for wastage minimize the managers and on site workers. The
technological factors are impact to the municipal party by the landfills because lack of
specialization and affordable equipment for on site reuse of the material. There is have lack of
recycling plants in the country and also not established prefabricated design and construction
technologies. The legal factors are has the strong polices and regulations against landfills
disposal. There is lack of the incentives for wastage management and the wastage are
unacceptable for the landfills at the environment. This impact to municipal party because their
has factors which impact to the landfills, Hegetschweiler & et.al., (2017).

Due to the faster stabilization in the bioreactor landfill, extra space is created and used
for refilling of the landfill and opposed to the conventional landfill that consume time to stabilize
and by this no refilling cam take place. There are some macroeconomic variables that also have
impact on the land filling and supply and demand for them. It includes poverty rate, inflation,
population and other macroeconomic policies like government actions related stock prices
change in interest rates influence economy and balance of demand and supply for land filling,
Larondelle & Lauf, (2016).
Operating and other cost also can have impact on waste to land fill. Reduced market cost
includes the cost of waste disposal due to the decrement in volume of waste. It has been also
identified that bioreactor landfill generates more of the useful biogas than the conventional
landfill. Faster gas generation that occurs in bioreactor landfill, a larger volume of gas can be
harvested than in the conventional landfill.
CONCLUSION
From the above study it has been concluded that balance of demand and supply of any
type of resources played an important role to avoid some problems like pollution etc. It has also
shown some factors that become the reason of this problem and waste to land fill such as:
changing habits of people, increasing population, social factors, political factors and policies like
resource conservation and recovery act etc.
