In your day to day work as a dental nurse you must always ensure that all
dental equipment is functioning properly. For this you must validate dental
equipment and instruments on a daily basis following manufacturer’s
guidelines, organisational and legal requirements.
Over the next week, please complete the following table explaining the actions

pump. It produces vacuum.
It can be clean by using an
air pump to suck up the dirt
and dirt, blood and debris.

can be used through the
tubing on regular basis.

filter and luer lock filter. It is
easy to use but expensive to
change.
X-ray Machine
Every morning before start the
work day dentist check x-ray.
She check by on the tray she
putting one burse
X-ray machine can be
cleaned by using water and
mild soap. Before placing a
piece of firm inside allow
them to dry completely. If
fluid or dirt get inside the
cassette can make read the
results confusing. Machine
should be clean after using
trice a day regularly and
keep the record safely.

X-ray Processing
Equipment
Before using the X-ray
processing equipment, I
regularly check. It takes an
hour or half hour for
panoramic x-ray set.
X-ray equipment must be
checked regularly. For
checking radiological, test
must be done in every three
years panoramic x-ray, intra
oral.
Autoclave
(include different
methods available
for both vacuum
and non-vacuum
autoclaves)
Set the heat to 134 for 3
minutes at a 2.25 bar
pressure. After setting that up
the steam starts coming down
on the items inside the
chamber where they are
being cleaned. This happens
over and over again for
around 20 minutes depending
if the autoclave has being
used before.
Autoclave should be clean
on the daily basis by dusting
of the outside with water and
removal of debris from
drains.
Clean the drains via
manufacturers approved
cleaner. On monthly basis,
it should be clean by
following all precautions
prescribed by manufacturer.
Washer Dryer
It should be cleaned under
running tap water with
detergent. After that it placed
in sterile bur stand.
This must be cleaned on
regular basis to sanitise for
better use. For this chemical
can be considered.
Cleaning involves removal
of both debris organic and
inorganic. It removes the
microbial and make the
equipment dis infective.
Ultrasonic Bath Before using ultrasonic bath I
check it on daily basis. By
measuring the depth of empty
tank.
It is effective in checking
patients status daily. Hence,
it must be cleaned with
proper disinfectant. With that
it can be cleaned by
washing powder that
removes saliva, blood, and
other organic and inorganic
debris. It kills the bacteria
and other pathogens with
that it cleans harsh

compounds and resistant
organism.
