BUS301: Design Mindset and Innovation Poster - Semester 2

This assignment is a poster project focused on understanding and visually representing the concept of a 'design mindset' within the context of innovation. The student was tasked with researching academic and practitioner literature to answer the question: 'What is a 'design mindset' in the context of innovation?' The solution involves designing a poster that clearly communicates the main message, is logically structured, and aesthetically pleasing, while also referencing the research findings. The poster is designed to be self-explanatory, utilizing a combination of text and graphics to convey complex information concisely. The student has identified the positive influence of design thinking on employee performance, its role in product and process innovation, and its benefits for SMEs in terms of profit and reputation. This assignment is designed to develop skills in summarization, prioritization, and the synthesis of information into a clear and concise visual format.

Design mindset is a process
that is used by designers in
order to find solution for
most complicated problems
which create issues in the
business organizations
(Zeng, 2018). Design
thinking helps the
companies to cater exactly
what the clients expect
from the organization
(Gobble, 2014).
Design
thinking mindset is basically
drawn upon the designer’s
intuition, logic and
imagination so that their
designs can demonstrate
proper understanding of
the requirements thus
achieve desired outcome to
soar high (Gobble, 2014).

Recent entrepreneurship
education has shown a
huge interest in design
mindset programs. Design
thinking mindset has been
combined for business
innovation (Lande, 2016).
The author has identified
that there is a positive
influence on the
performance of the
employees when they
utilize their creativity
through designing.
Recent entrepreneurs are finding positive
factors from the design mindset (Cairns, 2017).
As design thinking process gives scope to bring
changes in the organization hence product and
process innovation. This helps SMEs to grow
