Introduction
The aging population in the country of Vietnam has been clearly stated about the increasing aging of
population and lowering rate of birth (Xiao et al. 2019). According to the National Surveillance upon
the elderly people in the country of Vietnam, one-halfof elderly people that is nearly 55% are
considered as weak. Regarding proper physical caring, an elderly person requiresbetter support of
emotions from families (Yahalom, 2019). Nearly 38% of aged people do not have an appropriate
insurance card. This has become major problems among the old people to get suitable care and
treatment, especially in Vietnam (Nguyen et al. 2019). The aged people are continuously struggling
due to poverty in Vietnam. According to the Human Development Index, Vietnam has been ranked as
121 among 187 countries. Nearly 28% of old people receive social insurance support and pension
from the Government (Giang, Van Duong and Kim, 2018). The main purpose of this report is
gathering more thinking process regarding the lifestyle of aged people. This might helps to enhance
better experiences of life for old people. This report not shed lights on experiencesbut gain new
knowledge about my own personal thoughts on all the stages. However, certain recommendations will
be made to reduce problems arising from daily life.
Brief Background
As noted by Mansfield et al. (2019), the design thinking process is the formed methodological design
which delivers a proper solution based approaches to mitigate various issues. The design thinking
process is the most vital things that assist to reduce complex issues easily. This might be unaware of
the human's understanding. Different forms of ideas can be generated through conducting
brainstorming sessions that enhance the better thinking process (Tseng et al. 2019). It is necessary to
understand the importance of individual experiences through a better way of thinking process by
conducting the interview. The interview process helps to know new thinking capabilities of the
person, which further generates new ideas among others. As discussed by Malmberg et al. (2019),
basic steps of design thinking process might involve a better form of developing empathy among the
people. The entire thoughts, feelings and behaviour might come out from the critical way of the
design thinking process. In order to gain maximum empathy towards people, thinkers observe in a
natural manner or sometimes engage with an interview (Vazquez, 2019).
The population of Vietnam has been rapidly aging. In the year 2017, nearly 9% of the population
became older and elderly accounted as one-third of populations. This has become major issues
regarding pension, healthcare and welfare of older people (Thuy et al. 2019). On the same time,
Vietnam has been focused on economic integration and needs a high force of labour. In the ending of

policy on two children, the government has been expecting to mitigate the aging of the population
(Dunget al. 2019). This policy has become a huge disaster for the population of Vietnam. There arise
with the huge demand for maternity leave, enrolments in schools and healthcare services. The long-
term solutions are developed to improve health conditions among older people (Do, Correa-Velez and
Dunne, 2019). It also helps in improving various economic activities that might be easily suited by
aged people. The aged people in Vietnam have been continuously struggling regarding support and
need care. There has been a proper requirement of health insurance card for the older population of
Vietnam to reduce issues (Siegel, 2019).
THE SUCCESSFUL CAREER OF ELDERLY BUSINESSWOMEN
Mrs Tu is one of one friend’s grandmothers. She is 100 years of old and had walked with assistive
devices. In this age, she does not have any signs of slowing thoughts. This might be because of
intellectual stimulations on the use of critical thinking. She has unique personality and habits of taking
care of the entire family business. Proper interviews with her allow me to know regarding healthy
living styles after coming at this age (Gleason and Bohn, 2019). However, critical thinking and details
oriented things can be easily known from interview sessions.

In term of gathering suitable data, it has not become much challenging situation for me to arrange an
interview for Mrs Tu. I have already arranged certain questions that reflect her personal life as well as
personality. On the interview sessions, Mrs Tuused her personal life stories to answer the interview
questions. Hence, I try to the imagined past lifestyle of Mrs Tu. and the answer continuous to go on
from her. She is an open-minded person and highlighted career and right marriage partner. She always
believes in surviving in a tough life with an innocent mind. This critical way of thinking has arisen
upon her mind due to being cheated from farmers at the time of renting fields. Our main topic lies
with the critical thinking capacity that has made her significant from other women. She has also
quoted that before jumping on a conclusion, individuals must seek all the opportunities to get a better
job. This has made me think in a different manner from the answer given by Mrs Tu.
2. Persona Profile
Figure 2: Mrs Tu.’s Profile
At this age, she matters the most is the family that delivers her better lifestyle. She has also said that
she is detailed oriented and reasoning of 100 years old. On her earlier age, she used to be successful
businesswomen and have achieved huge success. Currently, she is having 27 grandchildren and 10
children. Her only happiness lies is seeing them grow with full of joy. She is proud to see her grow
old, as many people cannot reach her age. The main reason for her secret lies with the continuation of
daily exercises and that has not let her brain rest for any moments. Her health condition is not good
but needs to use assistive devices to walk. Her main goals lie in seeing her grandchildren marry the
right person and live happily (Hamington, 2019).

At this age, people used to admire on her health conditions, notable abilities regarding better
functioning of brains. This includes cognitive, processing speed and memory that helps her to deliver
better-thinking capabilities. Her grandchildren respect her for past success and try to listen to all her
pieces of advice deliberately. She can only use cassette and television. She is completely unaware of
the latest technological gadgets such as a computer or cell phone; neither knows how to use them. She
feels that she needs to share her experiences regarding relationships as well as jobs towards
grandchildren for their bright career. Mrs Tu. tries to represent a healthy lifestyle so that her
grandchildren can learn new things from her life.
3. Stakeholders map
Figure 3: Stakeholder map
The stakeholders mapping is the reflection of the entire life of persons. These persons are involved in
the life of Mrs Tu. According to Mrs Tu. her life resembles with three major stakeholders, which she
feels their importance. Firstly, she is thankful to her college Ms Thuy., who has provided immense
care and support to carry out daily activities. Ms Thuy has been concerned regarding health and used
to remind her for pills. Mrs Tu. has to meet Ms Thuy at the time of developing her career. Secondly,
her family provides support, loved and taking care. Thirdly, Mr Phan Van Tien is the doctor who has
conducted thorough check-ups on health.

4. Story Board
Figure 4: Storyboard
The storyboard gathers suitable information of Mrs Tu. at the traversing series of events such as
visiting in the hospital for checkups and performing different activities. However, I have made the
chance to note the health check-up with the practitioner. She wants to be healthy and active at this
age. She loves to spend time mostly with the family in the breakfast. She watches television for free
time. She worships at the ancestor altar and listens to the Buddhist Bible on the cassette before
sleeping on the bed. I note these major areas as the storyboard of Mrs Tu.

5. Experience Diagram
Figure 5: Experience Diagram
After completely visualizing the storyboard, I rate on daily activities as Rose, Buds and Thorns. This
will help me to experience fewer importance areas and gather new ideas at the time of conducting of
prototyping. The new experience of a person can be encountered on every touch point. “Rose”
indicates as pleasurable interaction, “thorn” resembles as unpleasant interactions and “Bud”
formulates in neutral interactions upon Mrs Tu.
Rose
The first areas lie as most pleasurable interactions where Mrs Tu loves to eat breakfast with her family
members. She has been well aware of her lifestyles and better health conditions. In order to meet these
conditions, she used to conduct health checkups on a daily basis at her personal practitioner.
Buds
At the worshipping at ancestor alter, Mrs Tu. has to wait for a longer time. At this age, she had perfect
health conditions and focused on prayers. She had listened to the Buddhist Bible before sleeping.
Thorns

Document Page
The major negative experiences arise for Mrs Tu. arises from watching television. She used to watch
television for a long time, which continuously affected her eyes. She had to take medicines regularly
and consult doctors to reduce eye problems.
6. What if Statements
How might we be able to develop better areas to watch television?
How might health checkups be improved for aged people?
How might the Buddhist Bible be able to have listened?
7. Brainstorming
In order to improve visiting the ancestor altar, Government might arrange a proper manner so that the
people can visit the place peacefully. Mrs Tu. has considered this thing. However, another problem
might arise at the time of watching television for aged people. This continuously affects their eyes
after watching television for a long time (Gouldet al. 2019).
There might be proper solutions on the identified points so that the thorn or bud can be changed into
the rose. Firstly, for aged people, there might be different types of arrangements for worshipping the
ancestor altar. There might lie with few persons such as people from NGOs, which will continuously
provide support to guide old people. NGOs peoples can easily answer any sorts of question asked
from aged people (Vrkljan et al. 2019).Proper health check-up centre needs to arranged in that
particular place. Another solution needs to listed from watching television. Researchers from medical
fields need to arrange proper goggles that can wear upon all types of people especially aged person to
reduce the issues from eyes after watching television.
