AI Summary
This project plan outlines the design and implementation of a network for Western Mining's branch office, addressing client requirements, scheduling, and risk management. The project begins with determining project requirements, including client needs and stakeholder identification, followed by creating a work breakdown structure and project charter. The project also incorporates SNMP monitoring solutions and addresses technical team characteristics. Part 2 focuses on scheduling and management, including a Gantt chart, communication plan, and risk management plan. The plan also includes a project closure report. Part 3 provides answers to questions regarding initial project stages, privacy policies, intellectual property, copyright, and a code of conduct. The project demonstrates a thorough understanding of project management principles and practical application in a network implementation scenario. The assignment is designed to showcase the student's ability to manage a project from start to finish, ensuring a secure and efficient network infrastructure.

2DESIGNING A NETWORK IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT
Part 1: Determine Project Requirements
Task 1
Client Requirements – Western Mining has planned to re-design their internal network
plan of their branch office. The head office of the company is in Sydney while they are also
opening their new office in Brisbane. The responsibility of installing the entire network has been
put over Pacific IT Solutions. There are primarily 4 departments within the office that comprise
of Exploration, Management, Operations and Sales. Western Mining also has some specific
requirements in relation to security aspects. The different departments within the office would be
need to highly secure as some servers should not be accessible from any other department.
Additional Questions – The additional questions that could be asked to the steering
committee are:
1. What is the expected delivery date by which the entire network plan should be
installed?
2. What is the present network infrastructure and design layout for the network?
3. What are the wireless requirements that would be implemented within the office?
Describe the area that would be covered under the wireless network.

The Risk management Plan includes:
Risk ID Risk Description Probability Cost Avoidance Strategies
1 Production resources related
risks based on reliability and
availability of machines,
production equipment, processes
and tools.
40% $1600 Specification of materials to be procured
and layout plan should be shared on a
prior basis. Different safety related
accidents and occupational health
related risks should be mitigated by
taking proper actions beforehand.
2 The quality of materials meant
for the networking layout plan
might not meet up to the
expected quality
20% -$3000 Due to defect in the cables and other
wired devices, some form of avoidance
strategies such as checking of cables
beforehand should be made. The project
manager should thus be responsible for
checking of equipment when they would
be procured from the retailer.
3 Completion of network design
layout within the given deadline
30% -$4500 Each of the task descriptions as
mentioned within the Gantt chart should
be completed as per deadline. Without
the completion of the necessary tasks,
the next tasks cannot be proceeded.
4 Implementation of security
techniques if not implemented
properly could lead to data
breaches
50 $1000 With the implementation of the network
layout plan, Pacific IT Solutions Pty.
Ltd should be proactive. They should
employ the efficient IT security risk
manager to implement tight security
