INTRODUSTION
The destination analysis or audit is very necessary for any country or any of the
destination places. Destination analysis or audit is done in order to know the current trends and
pattern going on in the tourism sector and applying them to the destination place (Dutta,
Thornton and Bowen, 2018). This is because of the reason that there are many new changes
taking place in the dynamic environment and this need to be taken into consideration by the
destination so that it is up dated with all the recent changes. For the present report the destination
chosen is Coventry. The Coventry is a city or administrative centre and a metropolitan borough
in the west of the Midlands in England. The present report will focus on the destination analysis
of Coventry for creating a spectacular year of culture in 2021. The report will also focus in the
regeneration of the place to mainly focus on improving the sustainability, competitiveness and
performance of the destination place.

Elements of tourism and their impact in destination
The tourism is an important sector of any country because it adds more value in the
national income of the country to a great extent (Krishnan and Briscoe, 2016). Coventry is a
place where the tourist has many of the different option to do starting from music to theatre and
different types of festivals, museums also a medieval history including ancient legends and many
other different unique art and culture. There are many different type of elements of tourism and
they also apply to Coventry and has impact in it as a destination place. These elements are as
follows-
Attraction- this is the first element of tourism which relates to the attraction of the
destination place. For a visitor the first thing which they see is that how attractive the place is to
be chosen to be selected by the traveller to go. The Coventry is very attractive to be selected by
the traveller to go to the place. This is majorly because of the reason that the country has a wide
variety of attraction like natural attraction, different cultural attractions and special attractions
like different museums, parks, different beaches and may other attraction.
Mass tourism- this is defined as the act of going to a destination place with a very large
number of people in a big large group. For this there are many requirement to be made by the
destination. This is because of the reason that many people travel at a samr time so there is large
requirement of the accommodation, food, entertainment and many other things. Coventry fulfils
all these requirements of mass tourism because Coventry is having a large number of hotels,
restaurants, and other places which can accommodate a large number of people at the same time.
Steps by stakeholders in maintaining the environment sustainably
In the present modern world the trend is prevalent where all the travellers and person
prefers to protect and safeguard the environment while they are travelling. This is because of the
reason that they think that they are travelling for their fun and pleasure so this must not harm the
surrounding and the environment near them. This calls for the development of maintaining the
environment sustainably. This is very much followed in Coventry (Millett, Toolin and Bates,
2019). The major stakeholders of Coventry follow the adjoining steps in order to make the place
sustainable and attractive to the travellers coming to the place. These steps are as follows-

The major step is to go green at all the attractive places of Coventry. This is because of
the reason that this will attract more of the travellers as all the place in Coventry are promoting
the green concept that is saving the environment (Rowe, Chaves and Leder, 2017).
Another step is to take care of all the heritage and historical places. This is because of the
reason that as they are historic place they might be damaged so it is the duty of the stakeholders

to take care of the local people and their practices. This is because of the reason that if the local

Tourism is the major source of income for the country. This is mainly because of the
reason that many tourists comes to the place and spends their time in roaming and exploring the
country and this includes the tourist spending money in the new country. Therefore, there are
many different types of advantages and disadvantages for the Coventry in becoming to the
destination place. These different types of advantages and disadvantages are discussed in the
following points-
Advantages
The major advantage of maintain tourism and Coventry as a destination place are as
follows-
The major advantage is the economic development of the country. This is because of the
reason that when the new tourist and consumers come to Coventry they spend their money in the
local activities and within the economy (Yanzheng, Zengxiang and Changhong, 2015). This
money is added in the national income of Coventry and thus this increases the national income of
the country.
Another advantage is that with increase in the tourism in the destination place that is
Coventry that is the increase in the opportunity for employment. This is because of the reason
that tourism increases the different types of business like increase in the hotel, restaurant, bars,
and other shopping related business. This increases the job opportunities within the country of
Coventry.
One more advantage of the destination place or tourism is that it increases the cultural
diversity within the country. This is mainly because of the reason that when people from
different and diverse cultures comes to the place and this increases the interaction of different

The major disadvantages faced by Coventry for maintaining itself as a destination place
are discussed in the following points connected below-
The major disadvantage is that the country has to incur a lot of cost in the marketing of
the destination place and for this it has to take help of different marketing options. These
marketing options are generally high in cost and this has to be barred by Coventry only.
Another major disadvantage is that there can also be cultural clashes. This is majorly
because of the reason that the tourist comes from many different and diverse type of culture to
visits the destination place of Coventry. Therefore, there sometimes may be clashes if more
importance is placed to one culture and the other culture people are disregarded. Also, many a
times there is situation where the country has pt disregard their own local culture and this may

One more major disadvantage is that there are seasonal fluctuations within the different

Restaurant- this is another factor which need to be regenerated. This is majorly because
of the reason that if the food will not be tasty and innovative than no person will be attracted
towards the destination place. This is because of the reason that without food no people can live
and the tourist coming to the new place first look for their convenient food and if their choice of
food is not their then the people will not like the destination place.
CONCLUSION
From the above study it can be concluded that destination analysis or audit is very
necessary for a destination to be successful. This is due to the fact that this means analysing the
current trends going on and then applying it to the particular place. The present report discussed
about the different elements of the tourism which were like mass tourism and others. Further the
different principles of tourism were discussed which needs to be followed for maintain a good
destination place. Next some advantages and disadvantages of the destination place were
outlined. In the end the discussion was done on the regeneration of the tourist place like
transportation, restaurant and many others.
