It is my hope that this email gets you in a good state of health. Before I say anything else,
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to you for taking your
precious time to be directly involved in the development of the diversity policy. I must say thank
you because your contribution has been of invaluable help to us. The contributions that you have
made have enabled us to be where we are now. If it were not for your input, we, as learners,
would not manage to achieve anything substantial. Now, thanks to your support, I have a finer
grasp of the objectives and the essence of diversity policy in the country.
As students, we are always committed to complying with all the directives that are given
to us by our instructors. I would lie to let you know that I have been personally involved in the
development of the diversity policy that you had assigned me. As a law-abiding Australian, I
strongly believe in the rule of the law. Australia is a diverse society made up of people from
different backgrounds. It should therefore be the responsibility of everyone to embrace and
support the culture of inclusivity and unity in the country. However, despite having anti-
discrimination laws and policies in the country, there is a large section of the Australians that
still thrive in discrimination. This is quite unfortunate and should not be tolerated in such an
advanced country any longer.

I strongly believe that the culture of discrimination can ultimately come to an ultimate
end if appropriate policy changes are made. This can be achieved through the strengthening and
effective implementation of the existing diversity policies. In this regard, I have decided to take
my time to demonstrate my concern for the eradication of discrimination in Australia by making
the following changes to the diversity policy:
1. Eradication of Racism in the workplace: Currently, racism is outlawed in the country by
the Racial Discrimination Act of 1975. Although this act has been in operation for
decades, racism still remains a major challenge in the country. In this regard, to
ultimately eradicate racism, it should be mandatory for all the employers to refrain from
any acts of racisms. Whenever there is any opportunity to be given out, be it hiring,
promotion or salary increment, no racial preference should be done at all. In case this
happens, the employer should be imprisoned and banned from operating in the country
for one year. This can bring workplace racism to an ultimate end.
2. Eradication of Gender Discrimination in the Workplace: In Australia, gender and sex-
related discrimination is prohibited in line with the Sex Discrimination Act 1984. Even
though this act outlaws gender-based discrimination, the practice still thrives in the
country. Therefore, the change that is recommended in his policy is that there is no
workplace in which a member of one particular gender should be more than 51%. All
employers have no choice, but to comply with this change. Meaning, they should, at no
any given time favor any gender. When the male and female ratio stands at 50:50, it
means that there can be no form of biasness towards a particular gender in the workplace.
The other change that should be applied alongside this one is that all the organizations
should create a department that handles the welfare of the minority and vulnerable sex-

based groups like the gays, lesbians, and the hermaphrodites to ensure that they are not
discriminated, but given equal opportunities to get hired, appropriately remunerated, and
promoted.
3. Elimination of the Discrimination of the Disabled: the disabled, just like the rest of the
Australian population, should be protected from any acts of discrimination. Currently, the
disabled’s rights are protected by the Australian Human Rights Commission Act 1986
and the Disability Discrimination Act 1992. However, since these laws have failed to
protect the rights of the disabled, the new change to be made in the anti-disability
discrimination policy is to make it compulsory for the employers to reserve 5% of the job
spaces to the disabled. This means that all the employers must observe an affirmative
action policy aimed at advantaging the disabled persons who, for a long time, have been
finding it challenging to favorably-compete the rest of the non-disabled Australians.
