INTRODUCTION
Human resource managers are the crucial part of an organisation who are responsible to
manage all work force within organisation in an efficient manner (Armstrong, 2016). In the
current report DCS group is taken into consideration that is as distributor of health and beauty
products within UK. The current report comprises a detailed portfolio that demonstrates various
skills, knowledge and attributes required by HR professionals to perform their role in an
effective manner. In addition, it includes a personal SWOT analysis, PDP plan for further
improvement and a reflective statement based on the given scenario.

P1) Skills, knowledge and behaviour required by HR professional within company
There are several skills, knowledge and attribute are required to present in HR managers
in order to perform their roles and responsibilities in better manner. These skills, capabilities are
given as under:
Communication Skills: It is a crucial skill for human resource managers as they are
required to interact with several internal as well as external parties on regular basis thus it is
essential to have better communication skills (Ritzman, 2016). It refers to a process to exchange
information between different individuals within organisation. In context of DCS group, it is
crucial for HR managers to have better communication skills so that they will be able to interact
with others in an efficient manner.
Decision making skills: Decision making skill is refers to take right decision within
predefined period of time. HR managers are required to take several decisions on regular basis
for the betterment of whole company. In context of DCS group, it is essential for managers to
have better decision making skill in order to manage human resources at work place effectively.
Problem solving: There are several constraints faced by an HR manager while
performing HR functions within company. For this, they are required to analyse the whole
situation in better manner and then take appropriate decision accordingly. Here, managers of
DCS group are responsible to solve numerous constraints, problems that arise at work place. It is
vital to maintain a positive environment within company where people can grow and prosper.

Leadership: It is analysed that in many situation HR are also required to act as a leader of
employees. They need to provide timely guidance, assistance to subordinates in order to alien
their efforts towards organisational growth and success (Poba-Nzaou, Uwizeyemungu and
Clarke, 2020) . In regards of DCS group, managers are required have effective leadership skills
so that they can provide right direction as well as guidance to work force that is crucial to attain
predefined goals and objectives.
Knowledge of compliances and laws: HR manager are also responsible to handle
grievances, disputes arises at work place. There are several laws such as employment protection,
equality have been formulated by higher authorities which need to abide by managers. In context
of DCS group managers are required to have proper knowledge about different legislations and
compliances to perform HR functions in an effective manner.
It is analysed that HR professionals play different roles in organisation that are essential
to manage work force effectively. To undertake these roles and responsibilities in effective
manner there are some skills, knowledge need to acquire by manager so that they can justify with
assigned position.
P2) Personal skills audit and a Professional development plan
Personal audit refers the assessment of the skills, expertise of an individual that is
essential for further improvement. It helps to know the strengths that distinguish an individual
form other along with the weak areas which need to be improved for personal enrichment. For
this purpose a detailed personal SWOT analysis has been undertaken that is mentioned as under:

appropriate plans for further development. It helped me to analyse my own weakness and
prepare an approaches PDP plan to develop certain skills in stipulated period of time. These
capabilities will assist me in performing different HR functions in an effective manner that is
essential to enrich in professional career.

With above discussion, it is monitored that there are ample of skills, knowledge and
attributes are required to present in an HR managers in order to perform different roles
effectively. It can be concluded that a personal SWOT analysis is helpful to undertake a detailed
personal analysis. In addition, PDP plan is significant to develop certain skills within predefined
period of time.
