Introduction
Objective of this report to analysis the importance of developing the management & leadership
skills. These skills will play an essential role in effectively manging the business operations of an
organisation and assist in gain the organisation objective. By developing an effective leadership
skill an individual is able to motivate their employees and also increase their efficiency toward
the achievement of organisation goal. While management skills will assist them in efficiently
manging the different work of organisation and help an organisation in achieving the goal. If an
individual wants to successfully achieve higher growth in organisation then these skills will play
an essential role. By developing these skills an individual will get various future growth
opportunity. For better analysing the strength and weakness Boyarzi’s theory of self-direction
learning is used which help in writing better reflection.

Task
While working as a volunteer in my school function I was realise that for successfully
achieving the goal, leadership and management skills will play an important role. I realise that if
I will develop these skills I am able to successfully manage the whole work & people also. I
realise that for better developing both the skills I will require to first analysis the gap in my
knowledge and for this I will use Boyarzi’s self-directed learning theory. Various steps of this

My ideal self- I realise that I want to be a good manger in a very well-known organisation in
future & for achieving my future goal it will require to develop both leadership & management
skills. By developing these skills I will successfully and efficiently manage the different work &
also able to achieve goal of any activity of time. I want to be a manger in future who is able to
efficiently motivate the other subordinates. I realise that for achieving my ideal self it will
require good management and leadership skill. As by developing these skills I am able to
positively influence the behaviour of other people and successfully achieve my future goal.
My real self- After analysing my ideal self I was realise that there is a huge gap between my
ideal and real self. I analysis that I have lack of management & leadership skills, I only have
some theoretical knowledge related to these skills. This theoretical knowledge will somehow
help me in manging the small task but I realise that it was not sufficient for me to achieve my
future desire job and because of this reason I was decided to develop both these skills. I
remember that when I was in my school than I will participate as a volunteer in my school
function. That time I will try my best to manage the work but I was fail to guide my other team
members and also not able to manage the function. After that incident I realise that there is a big
gap will exist between my real and ideal skill.
My learning agenda- This step of Boyatzi’s theory of self-directed learning will assist me
in better analysing the various way which help me to develop both these skills. I realise that there
is a huge difference in my actual and ideal skills and for developing these sills I will take various

steps such as, I will attend various online and offline seminars and effectively listen the
experienced speaker and gain knowledge from there. At that time I realise that those speakers
will influence and motivate the people just with the help of their effective communication skills.
Other than this I will join a mini project workshop which assist me in developing both these
skills and also develop various other employability skills. Other than this I will start reading
books that will enhance my knowledge and help me in efficiently developing both these skills.
Experimenting- After all these activities I realise that I will improve and now for analysis
the efficiency of my skill I will organise a small event in my college and I realise that this time I
will successfully control all activities & also able to effectively guide other members of team. I
realise that this time I will successfully motivate my team members & provide them effective
direction with the help of which the objective will successfully achieve. Other that this I will also
apply these skills in my personal life and I realise that these skills will help me to better
communicate with other people and also effectively solve the problem on time.
Developing trust relationship- This step in this theory will help me in analysing that
developing relation with other will also helpful in development of skills. Such as by developing a
good relationship with my teacher and friends I will able to effectively develop my skills. My
teachers will suggest me about that I will develop these skills by attending workshops and online
seminars. While my friends will suggest me various books which help me in developing my
skills. Now I am able to effectively manage the any work and able to lead other people.
Development of these skills will provide me various future growth opportunity which help me to
achieve my ideal goal.

Conclusion-
After the above discussion on this report it was concluded that both the leadership &
management skills are consider as an essential skill for a person. It will assist an individual to
effectively influence the behaviour of other person & motivate them to achieve the organisation
goal. While by developing the management skill an individual is able to effectively manage the
various operations of organisation. Both the skills will play an essential role in achieving the
objective.
