Were there any responses that surprised you? Why do you think you were surprised?
Yes, there was the response that I have been selected for the interview and will be a great
asset to the leadership team. This response has surprised me as they have seen the potential
capabilities of mine and selected me to work in their team as the leader. I am was surprised as I
was not expecting that they will select me as the leader and I have not even thought that they will
see my potential capabilities (Weiss, et al., 2014).
Highlight the similarities and differences between the management and leadership in the
responses you received?
The similarities between the leader and management are that they have to manage their
work on time. Managers and leaders both give directions but it will be followed by the people
when they will create a trustworthy relationship between the employees (Kotzé and Nel, 2015).
The similarity between both of them is that they are working for the success and growth of the
organization. The difference between the management and leader is that the manager is the one
who manages the things but the leader is the one who leads the people.
The manager is the one who administrates the activities in the company while the leader
is the one who sets the vision and goals and helps in achieving them. Many traits are similar
between the leader and manager is that they have to think critically; they should have positivity
and have a strong vision for the business. The manager is the one who performs several activities
in the company whereas the leader has long term strategy which helps in achieving the goals of
the company (Özbağ, 2016).

How do the results of your leadership interview compare to your understanding of
leadership vs. management?
The results of the leadership interview were good as I have selected for leading the team.
I have a lack of communication skills still I have selected. As compared to my understanding I
am not experienced much and I have not been with the big associates but the result has shown
that they have seen the potential in me. As per my understanding of the leadership vs.
management, the manager is the one who manages the things but the leader is the one who leads
the people and as per the result of leadership, the leader is the one who taking care of their
associates and also supports them to strive for excellence (Deters, 2017).
How do you think the traits of the leader are different from the traits of the managers?
The traits of the leaders are positivity, good communication skills, vision, honesty,
integrity, accountability, empathy, etc. There are certainly other attributes also which the leader
should poses for a good leader such as clarity in the vision which should be clear and concise,
dare to take the risk, face the challenges in an effective way and have the decisiveness in which
they don’t hesitate in making any decisions (Carleton, et al., 2018). They have eh great level of
confidence and have the power to motivate others. They should also have the trait of taking
quick decisions, adaptability, and optimism.
The traits of the manager are that they are caring and find out the time for knowing the
individuals. They have the trait of doing fair treatment between the employees. They also have
the attribute of doing faster innovation (Peachey, et al., 2015). They have development skills,
emotional resilience, self-motivated, result-focused, and empathetic. They also have the skills

like planning, delegation, performance management skills and focus on the productivity of the
company
What do your coworker responses tell you is important as it relates to your leadership
assessment?
In the personal leadership of mine, my coworkers have told me that I have certain good
skills like managing the task on time and making a great action plan which helps in leading the
other people too. I complete my daily tasks on time so these attributes of mine are the ones that
everyone praises (Ellis and Abbott, 2013). I am focused on my goals as per my coworkers so it
helps me I achieving the goals on time. Their responses help me in knowing what attributes I
have such as working delicately, modesty, good personality and have the ability to make a good
relationship with the other coworkers.
Do your coworkers have highlighted where you could improve the leadership skills?
Yes, they have highlighted that I have to put the major focus on my communication
skills. The communication should be clear in the leader but I don’t have a courageous
conversation due to the lack of experience (Lopez, 2014). So this is the thing I have to work on
so that I convey my message to the other people with full of confidence. I also have a lack of
confidence which my friends tell me so I have to improve in that also. I am not confident so how
will I lead to the other person so it is the major trait which I have to improve.

Identify specific areas where you believe you could improve your leadership skills and
how?
I can improve my leadership skills in enhancing my communication effectively so that I
don’t lose confidence while conveying my thoughts to the other. I will improve that by listening
to the people carefully and by communicating with myself in the mirror with full confidence
(Krog and Govender, 2015). I will watch different videos of effective communication and also
attend the conference meetings which will help me in knowing how people communicate without
hesitating.
