Developing Library and Interactive Creative Study Space: Report

This report details the development of a library and interactive creative study space, focusing on user needs and design improvements. It includes a survey conducted at Flinders Lane Library and Docklands Library to gather quantitative and qualitative data from library users and peer group members. The survey results analyze user preferences regarding library frequency, task engagement, time spent, facility satisfaction, community types, and desired improvements, such as connecting library networks and updating real-time user tracking. Personas are created based on the survey responses to represent typical library users and their needs. The report concludes with a discussion on the importance of interactive creative study spaces for enhancing learning experiences and suggests design considerations, such as group study environments and 24-hour accessibility.

1. Summary
In order to develop a library and interactive creative study space, it is required to get
familiar with the problems as well as requirements of the study space. The main aim of this study
is to classify the data collection method and in this study I performed the survey to gather
quantitative as well as qualitative data and also formed personas by means of gathered data. The
data collection method is implemented to review traffic of spaces and the study was agreed out in
the library of South Yarra such as Flinders Lane Library, in addition to Docklands Library. All
the data findings are being analysed by means of primary research with my peer grouping
members, and the random interviewees who are mostly visited the library (Trischler et al., 2018,
p.79). With the results of the data analysis, the final features of the library along with interactive
imaginative study space are proposed in this paper.
2. Survey
As the target audience for this research study is peer group members and users of the
library, therefore I found 20 participants from the Flinders Lane Library, and Docklands Library
for analysing the selected research topic. The questionnaires are filled out by the research
participants by online survey method.
Based on the results of secondary research, it is seen that the traditional classrooms have
provided lack of support to forms of the learning experiences. The educators are developed
library and interactive creative study space for transforming the classrooms as well as other areas
of the school (Chatten & Roughley, 2016, p.251). This innovative study space is created and

designed to provide support towards innovative method to teach and learn with input from the
teachers, as well as young people. Into the school, there is adoption of center based approach for
instructions; study space is designed for the group work. Library is developed so that so that
audiences can get access to the study materials related to their courses. Creative spaces can
increase collaboration, generate interaction as well as foster teaching and learning innovations.
Collaboration helps to bring people together to project work to solve the issues (Akın & Pedgley,
2016, p.1210). Technology as well as space is required to interactive to thrive into the maker-
space and innovative is original disruptive acts.
3. Results
The selected respondents from Flinders Lane Library, and Docklands Library completed
their online survey. The responses to the questions are rational as well as predictable. Following
charts shows the survey results in the statistical form help the reader to understand opportunities
of library and creative study space.

Figure 1 shows the frequency of the visitors to come to library. It is analyzed that 25% of
the audiences are visited library everyday while 75% of them for 3 times in a week.

From the above figure, it is found that 60% of the participants are visited the library to
explore t the research, 30% for experiencing new ideas by reading books and articles and 10% of
them are going to find job opportunities.

From the above figure, it is found that 50% of the respondents are staying in the library
for 1-2 hours, 25% of them for 3 hours and 25% of them for more than 3 hours.

From the above figure, it is found that 95% of the respondents are enjoying facilities that
the library offers these days and 5% of them are not.

From the above figure, it is found that 75% of the respondents are wanted to adapt spaces
and services for the patrons with disabilities, 15% of them for building healthy communities and
10% of them for implementing internet access.

From the above figure, it is found that as per the respondents 45% of them are thinking
that there are two main improvement required such as connect networks of libraries and
universities and update real time penetrating of the users as investigate for library catalogue. On
the other hand, it is found that 10% of them can support community based borrowing and skills
sharing programs.

From the above figure, it is analyzed that 98% of the respondents are used the physical
book/print materials in the library and 2% of them are very often used it.

From the above figure, it is analyzed that 60%of the respondents like the library sitting
arrangement as seats with the desktop computers, 30% of them as individual seats and 10% of
them with carrels with dividers of 6 inches high.

From the above figure, it is analyzed that 80% of the respondents agreed that it is
required for library to release for 24 hours while 20% of them it is not required. If the library is
opened for 24 hours then the audiences can access to the course and study materials anytime they
required. It helps them in their learning purposes.

From the above figure, it is analysed that 50% of them respondents prefer to get the space
design as well as environment as group study environment, 30% of them prefer to presentation
practice space and 20% of them as reading space.
4. Personas
All the respondents are being created based on the data which I found from the entire
research study. Personas are based on my peer groups those are provided their responses to help
me in my study.

Persona 1: Walter Hucko
Age: 21 years
I am living in Victoria and regular usage of the library. I am going to the library every
day for accessing and using quality information as well as resources. It helps me to enhance the
study and research skills and use of latest technology for enhancement of learning. The library
provides a positive impact on my academic achievement by reading different types of books. It
equips me with all-time learning skills in addition to expand thoughts and enable me to live as
accountable citizens. My library provides me with a flexible room by means of comprehensive
range of the resources with hold me into learning during my course.
Persona 2: John Klok
Age: 25 years
I am living in Australia while I am not regular user of the library, but visited the library
for 3-4 times in a week. Our library provides creative space throughout creative activities like
group discussion and others. While we have to discuss any topic, then I and my team go to
library where we discussed our problems which we faced in our study. Our library provides
facilities such as reading materials, large seating capacity, library catalogs and photocopy
services. In my point of view, I will suggest that in future library, they should add new books and
resources about different subject disciplines, need computers with speed internet access and the
library should extent its time till 10 pm. The library is required to automate their operations by
mean s of integrated library software package.

Age: 24 years
I am staying in Australia and the libraries spaces are transformed. It is flexible as well as
activity oriented. In my point of view, the library can investigate community impact of the
creative spaces into the public libraries and provide evidences which can impact on the learning
materials. Our library provides an adaptable spaces and services for the patrons with disabilities
for community development to encourage cultural diversity as well as social capital. In the
creative space, the cultural participation is occurred which deliver formal as well as relaxed
events permit populace to contribute in a varied way. Our library provides with a seats with the
desktop computers and internet access so that the students can search anything related to their
study.
5. Discussion
After evaluation of the results as well as combination of the research findings, it helps me
to analyze that development of library as well as interactive creative study space can help the
students in their learning experiences. They get their course related details and information from
the library by online course materials. It is discussed that the library can explore to research and
experiencing of new learning ideas. In the future library, there are two major improvements
which are required to adopt such as connect networks of libraries and universities and update real
time searching of the users as investigate for library catalogue (Elliot, Baumfield & Reid, 2016,
p.1191). Mainly, the design of the library space should be such that it looks as group study
environment. There are very few users are using the physical book/print materials for their
learning as well as studying purposes. It is suggested to open the library for 24 hours so that
everyone can access to it anytime.
