For a person, such as Riley and Mia, development of literacy level is significant. Mia who
is reading a story was asked by the teach some questions related to kind of day, working of
wombat and many more. Mia answered all the questions and at last, was asked by the teacher to
do some writing or drawing what happens next in the story. For Mia, it sounds fun and she is
accepting to do that at present. However, in case with Riley, her teacher has asked to read her a
lesson and on the basis of this, the girl has given answers to some questions. This exercise was
practised for checking her literary rates and reading skills. Through this, Riley has developed her
reading skills which also helped her to enhance her competencies. For the both children, literacy
is essential as the more Riley and Mia read and write, the more they widen their vocabulary as
well as articulate concepts in accurate manner. With enhancement of the ability, their
communication can make them better student.
The project highlights importance of developing children’s reading skills in early primary
school years, evaluation of Riley and Mia’s reading skills. It also includes description of two
teaching strategies for Riley and Mia.

Considering the communication between teacher and Mia or Riley, it can be said that
development of reading skills in early primary school years is important. For Riley and Mia,
reading skills are considered as important for children as they aid in developing imaginative
practices of child. As per the given cases, it has been analysed that Riley is not so effective in
reading as well as communication skills and therefore facing the problems in communicating
with its teacher at time of answering its questions. However, if Riley wants to improve its
reading and communication skills then it can help the respective personnel in fostering the
development as well as imagination of brain, strengthen relationships and evolving emotions and
language. Reading not only facilitates Riley in gaining knowledge but also empowers it with the
power of reasoning along with enabling it to understand things effectively and provides direction
to its lives.

Contrary to it, Mia has effective communication as well as reading skills that provide
assistance to the respective personnel in reading the content. From such observation, it has been
analysed that reading is significant in early years of the development of the children. Frequently,
this results in role-playing as a child like Mia grows that provides assistance in the process of
developing other kinds of skills like morality, empathy as well as problem-solving. Another
importance of developing the reading skills of the children in their early primary school years is
that it facilitates in improving the language skills. It is because reading to the children within the
earliest months inspires the part of the brain which permit them in gaining the understanding of
the meaning of language. Reading is important in primary schools because learning to read is
about listening as well as understanding and working out. This assists a child in developing its
own vocabulary along with improving its understanding when they listen that is crucial as it
begins to read. In such way, it has facilitated Mia in developing key language, social and literacy
skills.
