Developing Manager (Task 2) Report: Personal Skills, SWOT, and Targets

This report, submitted as part of the Developing Manager Task 2 assignment, offers a comprehensive self-assessment of the student's management skills, focusing on the role of a General Manager in a luxury hotel. The report evaluates skills such as team building, communication, leadership, and time management, identifying current proficiency levels and areas for improvement. DEVELOPING MANAGER
(TASK 2)

2.1 Assessing own management skills performance
It is on critiquing my own administrative skills in accordance to perform in a
considerable manner in the chosen field of T&T. Wherein, I am hereby
posted as General Manager in the Dorchester Luxury Hotel of London and
obligator to manage a modernised set of workforce. This is however with a
fundamental concern of satisfying the altering preferences of the customers
that continually changes as per the modifying trends of market. It in turn
represents a principle accountability of the leaders along with the managers
to handle a pressurised environment of work by motivating them to a greater
extent. It consequently postulates them to feature certain effective traits with
affluent dimensions that involves- Team building skills, Communications
skills, Leadership and Time management skills.

Team building skills
Team building skills- It is a foremost consideration while working as
a leader to create an effective team of individual where they can
promptly serve to the undertaken objectives of the organisation.
For which, they are hereby required to conduct prompt sessions of
meeting to closely identify the existent skills and abilities of their
workers. This will in turn aid them to assign such responsibilities
that can be effectively carried out by them and they will be
certainly able to serve the overall goals of the organisation.

Communication skills
Communication skills- It is yet another requisite attribute of a
manager where they are required to interact with all
organisational bodies at each and every level. It is thus
important for them to feature some considerable skills of
communication where I believe to possess a pertinent non
verbal skills of communication. However, I am hereby
required to enhance my verbal skills to make active interaction
at all divisional level.

Leadership skills
Leadership skills- Leaders are positioned at a higher level designation where
they are directly responsible to manage the relative work considerations of
their subordinates. In context to which, they are also required to take
prompt decisions by together motivating the workers. It is thus on referring
to my own leadership skills, it is evident that I am hereby required to have
a coherent knowledge about the modern day concepts of work that I am
presently lacking into. Along with which, I am also required to refer some
abstractive models of motivation like Maslow's need hierarchy theories and
Herzberg's theory of motivation to continually encourage the employees on
regular interval of time.

Time management
skills 2 It is also in regard to
improvise my prevalent
skills of time
management where I am
lacking in making timely
submission of work. As a
result to which, my team
is also lacking in meeting
the stipulated deadlines of
work that is subsequently

overall productivity of the
firm in a pessimistic
manner.
It can however be
improved by referring to
several planning tools to
note down the work in
diary or computer and
avoiding multiple work at
a time.

2.2 Analyse personal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities
and threats
It is with a fundamental sense of examining my personal attributes
in terms of my existing strengths and weaknessess that is
basically referred to create a future developmental plan.
Wherein, it is done by considering the four elements of SWOT
analysis model that will also help to determine the upcoming
opportunities and threats-

Strengths- I accept to have good interpersonal skills that help
me to make cordial interaction with others. Additionally, I
together believe to possess a positive attitude towards learning
newer things that in turn supports me to quickly interpret any
fresh agenda at work.
Weaknesses- A leading drawback of mine is in regard to me
weaken skills of time management where I am also unable to
motivate my team for the same. It has resultanly affected my
leadership skills in a negative manner where by together
declining my productivity as well.
