Sports related subculture
Specific group whose members have separate behaviours and treats in contrast to some of
the norms and values of the society are known as subcultures. In sports a subculture is a group
within the larger context of a respective sport which has its distinct roles, values and norms. For
example boxing is considered as a deviant sport subculture because of the intent of the game that
is to any harm the opponent (Deviant sport subculture, 2021).
Specific traits and discussion on whether it should be considered a deviant subculture
Boxing is considered as an intelligent, alert and fearless yet friendly game in which two
opponents are playing against each other with by following respective rules and regulations of
the game. The game is very critical as it involves both the parties to harm each other provide
physical pain. This is the reason why boxing is considered as a deviant game. Some of the
critical traits of the game are as follows:
Confidence
Strong character
Accuracy and power
Incredible speed
Focus and patience
The players playing boxing have numerous trips and qualities which makes them great
boxers which do not just involved learning the game and having excellent technical skills but
also involves strong character and self discipline to get them through the rough patches. Passion
of a great boxer for the game allow him or her to adapt to anything that comes in front of them
and avoid any sort of distractions on the way while fighting and remove all odds to reach
towards our goal and winning the game (Schinke and et. al., 2019).
